Good morning, all. We are having a rainy morning. Boy, do we need it. We are still over an inch behind our year to date rainfall. When you only get about 7 inches a year, that is a lot. It also means we will be cooler today. |

eaglepedia revisited January 24, 2008 There are distinct differences in foraging behavior between juveniles and adults. Immatures apparently develop hunting skills slowly and must learn to locate reliable food sources and master feeding techniques. Consequently, young eagles are wanderers, foraging over wide areas and often feed upon easily acquired foods such as carrion, spawning salmon, and fish found in abundance at the mouths of streams. Adults lead a more predatory lifestyle, hunting live prey in localized territories. Bald eagles are often seen perched atop tall tres where they have a commanding view of their surroundings and can locate prety efficiently. Once an eagle spots its prey, it swoops down in a shallow glide and throws its feet forward to grasp the prey in its talons, sometimes reaching several inches below the surface of the water. Eagles typically carry the prey back to a favorite perch where they eat it. http://www.evostc.state.ak.us/Universal/Do...N_baldeagle.pdf ![]() Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

DH got me my birthday presents (two weeks early). He is like a little kid - he wanted me to open them immediately. lol One of things he got me is a new fishing rod and reel. It is designed for people like me that only have one usable hand/arm. It was, of course, for a righty, but last night DH made it for a lefty! I can't wait to try it out. He made reservations for a neaby lake (90 miles - that's close in New Mexico). We will be gone 4 days. It means missing one dialysis session, but I don't care. I am just really looking forward to the trip! |

![]() Hello, everybody! Got so busy yesterday that I didn't get a chance to check in. We were putting a bedroom back together after having new carpet installed. BUT I did remember that Topa's family was arriving yesterday, and here they are looking so sweet this morning. What a joy to wake up and see those dear faces. I know you are enjoying every moment, Cathy.Cat, your DH is so thoughtful, and clever, too. I don't think everybody could figure out how to adapt the reel for your other arm like that. Hope you catch a few big ones on your weekend away! Brynn is starting to put some weight on his leg at last - we are at 5 weeks now since he pulled his hamstring. He is hobbling just like a person would who has sprained an ankle, but at least he is using all four feet now instead of hopping. It will still be a long time until he is back to normal I think. Big sale just came in the flyer for the flooring I want in the kitchen, hall, powder room, and laundry room. Have been waiting over a year for it to go on sale. Here we go again. But it really needs to be done. Just not looking forward to the mess. Enjoy your day, everyone. |
