eaglepedia revisited March 27, 2007 Eagle Hunting/Eating (part I): Bald eagles can lift about 4 pounds and don't usually feed on chickens or domestic livestock but they are opportunistic feeders. They will eat carrion (dead and decaying flesh) and because of that image, some folks dislike the bald eagle although there are those who do not care for birds of prey which kills other animals for food! Upon spotting a fish swimming or floating at the surface of the water, the eagle will drop into a shallow glide and snatch the fish right out of the water with its talons. If he misjudges and is dragged into the water it is because he refuses to release his catch! An eagle can drown in this situation if he is unable to swim far enough to get to shore or he may be overcome by hypothermia. The eagle is unable to fly until it is out of the water so it will use the wings to swim. http://www.baldeagleinfo.com/eagle/eagle3.html ![]() Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

![]() Hello, everybody. Hope everyone is feeling OK today. Youngest DS is having his wisdom teeth removed this morning so I will be "babysitting" him after his surgery. Likely he'll just play video games and won't want to be out and about. When they are put right under and have an IV they need to be supervised afterwards. DH drove him there and will bring him home - not allowed to drive afterwards. When I had mine out years ago it was just done in the dentist's office. Topa, cute picture of the children on the little trolley cart at the lake. I am enjoying this family reunion so much, seeing it through your eyes. |

Ian and his work partner were asked by one of the store managers to come up with a back-to-school display for their product. Ian came up with the idea of building a schoolhouse. That's my retirement gift from my federation, the big teacher's bell, in the tower. The Doritos rep was asked to add their products to the side of the display. Not the most nutritious example, but an excellent merchandising effort, I thought. The display is quite large, I had to size down the photo a lot! Front door is brown root beer boxes, windows are silver boxes, green boxes for the lawn, and so on. Hope my bell stays put ......

Thank you all for inquiring about my cold. I am feeling much better today. Saw the doctor this morning for my annual physical (which was 2 years late according to him). After his examination he sent me to the lab across the hall from his office and I had a multitude of blood-work done, cardiogram and chest x-ray. He wasn't concerned about my cough but the x-ray will confirm if there is anything going on, so no antibiotics. He did give me a tetanus shot as it is only good for 10 years. Next week I go back for the results and a pneumonia shot which you should have over the age of 65. He also stressed the importance of getting the flu shot in October before we go own south.Alan and I always get our flu shots but this year is extra important because of the swine flu, or H1N1 outbreak. I'm so glad this appointment is over, now I can eat and have my cup of coffee. |

cheryl good luck with DS - I remember those days! ugh I had mine done at the orthodontist - he knocked me out (IV count backwards - I said 99 and out I went) of course I didn't wake up until the next day! LOL My mom had my sister who was 4 months old at the time - with us - thinking it would be in and out ..... hours later I'm still knocked out! Have no clue how they eventually got me home - mom ran out of bottles for the baby! LOL ........ How cool is that display! They do a food drive here in NYC (and around other parts I think as well) - architecture firms build things out of food - put them on display - cost to visit is food donations (at Thanksgiving time if I remember) and then all the food in the display goes to the food bank as well. Gary's office has done things several times - pretty cool (and not as easy as it looks) Awesome job Ian! glad to hear all went well Carole and that you are on the mend - annual physical - what's that LOL |
