Good morning, eagle friends. Couldn't believe it, past 10 am here and no Monday thread! I haven't started a thread in ages! Glad that everyone is out enjoying their day, although I guess the westnesters are just getting started.

Hugs to Topa and family as they say good-bye to each other today. Safe journey home! It was wonderful that you were all able to get together in the USA. The time must seem short but every moment was precious.

Ozzie, Tigsy with his own Tigsy, such a cute photo! I will check out the animal websites that were posted near the end of the day.

Deb, thanks for the video of the Atlantic surf, interesting to see that. TV is showing people watching the waves and I guess some were washed away yesterday. Most but not all were rescued. I can see where it would be mesmerising to view the crashing waves, sometimes too close.

Lala, thanks for the cooper's photo and the peacocks vs the hummingbird.

Has anyone else been watching the new space series, called "Defying Gravity"? It had the third or fourth episode last night. Not sure of the exact details but the writer or writers from "Grey's Anatomy" write for this show also - same premise with a narrator. Anyway I really, really like it and am hooked for sure. This week it will be moved to Friday night (on our channel anyway) instead of Sunday. Last night it was about "The Rubicon" and passing the point of no return, where they could no longer give up the mission and return to Earth.

Good morning Everyone.

Thought I'd drop by here to say hello.

Oh Topa it's going to be so hard to say goodbye today. :Hugs:

CDN, no I haven't been watching Defying Gravity. I'll have to watch for it and check it out, sounds really cool. What network is it on??

Still entertaining myself on here!

Lala, here are some thumbnails of our watercolour that you asked about. The artist had a number of copies of the black-lined picture, then as we watched she was doing the watercolouring part. So the black line part (the outline) of the drawing was a print of some sort, then the watercolours were hand-done. The buildings look like the area to the right of the Eiffel Tower, just that the area is more modern now. We bought this when we were there for either our 20th or 25th wedding anniversary - went both times. I want to return for our 40th possibly. One regret is that we did not take a photo of the artist working on our picture. The previous frame was just a brass metal one, that's all we could afford to have done at the time. This frame sets it off much better and matches our furniture. We have it in the foyer near the livingroom.

Laurie, "Defying Gravity" is on CTV if you get any Canadian channels, and ABC in the States, according to my DH. Maybe you could catch up - I believe you can watch earlier episodes on the computer but I'm not 100% certain.

Defying Gravit haven't heard of that one but we don't watch lots during the summer (except the "reality" shows I get sucked into ;) )

busy weekend doing nothing although we squeezed in some caching! went to see those waves - they were bigger on Sat as opposed to Sun but beaches were closed. I hear out east they were really something (too far for me to go and then you have those get away folks to deal with)

Topa hugs to you and yours - I know you had a wonderful time with your visit - we have certainly enjoyed the photos. Safe journey to your DS and family......... so did you get to use your Hebrew?? :Hugs:

and ED's should be home now after a visit with their grandkids and family how nice for everyone

I have a little catching up to do for sure
a little busy here but shouldn't be tooooo bad as everyone is on vacation ..... except me :(

however, in a couple of weeks, all the regular schedules begin so lots of notices to send out phooey

The drawing notifications are coming to a close - not too many things left to distribute.

Click on the above photo to see the last few donated items available to choose from.

Dr. Sharpe still has some IWS items to distribute as well.

SOOOOOO

Be sure you are keeping an eye on your email and quickly respond so that he can move on and wrap up the 2009 NAC!

Thanks again to all who participated and who support the effort to help the eagles come home!

Deb - I enjoyed all your photos and video from the weekend. Caching sure looks like a lot of fun. It sounds like you are extra busy at the office, hope it slows down soon.

Cheryl - Your painting is beautiful. How nice to have such fond memories of your trip to Paris. I never watched "Defying Gravity" but will look into it, sounds exciting.

I personally have never put my handbag on the floor of any washroom, but I have put it in the occasional shopping cart and I do put it on my kitchen counter when bringing in groceries :o

Your Handbags May Be Contaminated :8O: :8O: :8O:

Have you ever noticed girls who set their handbags on public toilet floors, then go directly to their dining tables and set it on the table? Happens a lot! It's not always the 'restaurant food' that causes stomach distress. Sometimes 'what you don't know will hurt you'!

Read on.............
Mom got so upset when guests came in the door and plopped their handbags down on the counter where she was cooking or setting up food. She always said that handbags are really dirty, because of where they have been.

It's something just about every woman carries with them. While we may know what's inside our handbags, do you have any idea what's on the outside? Women carry handbags everywhere; from the office to public toilets to the floor of the car. Most women won't be caught without their handbags, but did you ever stop to think about where your handbag goes during the day.

'I drive a school bus, so my handbag has been on the floor of the bus a lot,' says one woman. 'On! The floor of my car, and in toilets.'
'I put my handbag in grocery shopping carts and on the floor of the toilet,' says another woman 'and of course in my home which should be clean.'

We decided to find out if handbags harbour a lot of bacteria. We learned how to test them at Nelson Laboratories in Salt Lake , and then we set out to test the average woman's handbag.

Most women told us they didn't stop to think about what was on the bottom of their handbag. Most said at home they usually set their handbags on top of kitchen tables and counters where food is prepared. Most of the ladies we talked to told us they wouldn't be surprised if their handbags were at least a little bit dirty.

It turns out handbags are so surprisingly dirty, even the microbiologist who tested them was shocked.

Microbiologist Amy Karen of Nelson Labs says nearly all of the handbags tested were not only high in bacteria, but high in harmful kinds of bacteria. Pseudomonas can cause eye infections, staphylococcus aurous can cause serious skin infections, and salmonella and e-coli found on the handbags could make people very sick.

In one sampling, four of five handbags tested positive for salmonella, and that's not the worst of it. 'There is fecal contamination on the handbags' says Amy. Leather or vinyl handbags tended to be cleaner than cloth handbags, and lifestyle seemed to play a role. People with kids tended to have dirtier handbags than those without, with one exception.

The handbag of one single woman who frequented nightclubs had one of the worst contaminations of all. 'Some type of feces, or possibly vomit' says Amy.

So the moral of this story is that your handbag won't kill you, but it does have the potential to make you very sick if you keep it on places where you eat. Use hooks to hang your handbag at home and in toilets, and don't put it on your desk, a restaurant table, or on your kitchen counter top.

Experts say you should think of your handbag the same way you would a pair of shoes. 'If you think about putting a pair of shoes on your counter tops, that's the same thing you're doing when you put your handbag on the counter tops.' Your handbag has gone where individuals before you have walked, sat, sneezed, coughed, spat, urinated, emptied bowels, etc!

Do you really want to bring that home with you?

The microbiologists at Nelson also said cleaning a handbag will help. Wash cloth handbags and use leather cleaner to clean the bottom of leather handbags.
