Good new friends, thanks for sending your emails! A step in the right direction, albeit small. We have wonderful news to share with you! After being inundated by emails from thousands of Animals Australia supporters and pressure from around the world, the Shire of Broome held an emergency meeting and decided to suspend its sister-city relationship with the Japanese dolphin-killing town Taiji. Save the Dolphins ![]() And isnt this just ADORABLE - Chimp nutures Puma infant http://news.ninemsn.com.au/glance/856631/chimp-nurtures-little-puma-orphan LA peeps, stay safe! |

Hello, everybody. I was awake so got up to watch the whooper training. Right now they are socked in with fog. There is a possibility that they will train later, once the fog burns off. If you are up, check out the crane cam just in case. http://www.operationmigration.org/crane-cam.html Unfortunately, the youngest chick, #931, was hit by the wheel of the trike when the pilot swerved to avoid hitting #928, who had landed right in front of the landing plane yesterday. #931 had a broken leg and internal injuries and did not survive the surgery. RIP #931

Some info from a member on the OWL Forum........This is where Bandit from the Delta nest is.........During my recent visit to OWL Bev showed me the "Pool Cage" and gave me her permission to post these pics. The Pool Cage is 128ft long with both ends painted brown so the birds can see the distance, The top and sides are open to the sky and weather, but covered with a wire mesh. The workers/volunteers are busy getting it ready, the girl in the center is pulling grass and weeds out from what will be the actual pool. The pool will be stocked with live fish, a great learning tool for the birds. When it's complete there will also be some branches placed throughout the cage for the birds to perch on. Bev hopes to have it serviceable in a couple of months .
