The polar bears are back! Yippee! Thanks, Carole (just saw your post from last night, now here are today's pics, woo hoo!). My goodness, you certainly are well prepared with all the delicious dishes you have prepared for Rosh Hashana. I noticed the lemon squares in the list! You must be an outstanding cook to be able to make all those special creations. I learned something new, too, about what would be part of your special meals, and I appreciate the time it took to list them for me. Topa, bravo on making it all the way to the PH nest and back in record time! It must have been fascinating to see the Chumash regalia. The dolphin totem really drew my attention, too. Nice photo of you with Jo Ann, and all the rock and water photos were so colourful. You are doing so well with your photography skills. The nest photo, ah ...... More, more, please, of everything! The floor is all done, took the young guy 10 hours all by himself. He did an outstanding job. Now for the follow-up with cleaning bits of glue off here and there, reloading closets, DH painting baseboards, appliances back, and so on. Next step - removing wallpaper. The dog had the worst day of his life, poor baby, with all the banging around and then the compressor air gun thing to put the baseboards back on. He was a psycho mess even though we kept him with us all day, upstairs away from everything and/or outside, didn't help much, his world was upside-down. Not a good day here for me, aching all over so will be logging off. |

eaglepedia revisited December 9, 2007 Bald eagles are primarily fish eaters. They can catch fish 6-12 inches under the surface, and they often go for dead or floating fish. Bald eagles hunt mostly in the early morning, and sometimes again in late afternoon. They will occasionally hunt cooperatively when hunting mammals. Bald eagles use several methods to catch prey, including swooping from a perch or while in flight and wading from shore into the water and grabbing fish with bill or talons. While much of the bald eagle's diet consists of fish, they will also eat ducks, rabbits, herons, squirrels, opossums and carrion. Almost 90% of the salmon eaten by eagles is carrion, often stolen from other birds such as osprey or immature eagles. Eagles are successful about 10% of the time when chasing mammals, and 70-80% when fishing. An adult bald eagle can consume one pound of fish in less than four minutes! They can lift 1⁄2 of their own weight, and carry 1⁄3 of their own weight. Bald eagles are a very important part of the environment. By eating dead animal matter, they help with nature's clean-up process. Bald eagles are also hunters, so they keep animal populations strong. They do this by killing weak, old, and slower animals, leaving only the healthiest to survive. http://www.carolinaraptorcenter.org/b_eagle.php http://www.seaworld.org/animal-info/animal.../bald-eagle.htm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

![]() Like a missile it came, out of the sky; we don't understand it, we just don't know why. But in one beat of a heart, many lives were taken, and down deep in our hearts, our souls were shaken. And so a tear fell from the Great Eagle's eye, but America's spirit will never die. For our Great Eagle's been through it before, and the terrorists will learn, again it will soar. Cause the eagle has claws, that are solid as steel; for it stands for the justice, that is sacred and real. So like the strength of an eagle, let's spread our wings and fly, so the memory of those taken will not ever die. ![]() excerpt from "The Eagle's Tear" written by Larry Henderson. |

We All Know What Happened on Sept. 11 - or Do We?![]() The Passionate Eye Investigates Persisting Theories 9/11 Conspiracy Files: The Third Tower delves into one of the mysteries surrounding Sept. 11—a third tower at the World Trade Centre, which along with the Twin Towers, collapsed on that fateful day. But a plane never hit this skyscraper. This 47-story tower fell seven hours after the others and has become the subject of heated speculation and conspiracy theories, largely fuelled by the Internet. Sept. 11 was the first global event in the age of the worldwide web and it’s being used as a platform for a wide range of conspiracy theories—more than 50 at the last count—that allege the U.S. government was somehow involved in the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. Conspiracy theorists like Dylan Avery believe the Third Tower was brought down by a series of controlled explosions. Avery is the 24-year-old documentary maker behind the Internet phenomenon Loose Change, which has been viewed tens of millions of times online. He and his film pull no punches, claiming a government conspiracy was behind the events of Sept. 11 and the ensuing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The mysterious collapse of the third tower is central to his argument. It’s an accusation the U.S. Government categorically denies. After seven years, on Aug. 21, 2008, the official report on the World Trade Centre collapse of Building 7 (the Third Tower) was released. U.S. Federal investigators concluded that fire weakened floor beams and a critical support column leading to the collapse of the third tower. However, that would make the third tower the first and only skyscraper in the world to collapse solely due to fire. 9/11 Conspiracy Files: The Third Tower explores the many questions that continue to fuel conspiracy theorists. 9/11 Conspiracy Files: The Third Tower is directed by Mike Rudin, and produced for the BBC, part of a series investigating and debunking widely held conspiracy theories, while also exploring the inconsistencies and holes in the official accounts. We watched this on Monday evening and it will be repeated tonight at 10 pm ET/PT on CBC Newsworld. It was a definite eye opener. The promo video for this is not available at the present time. |

we have to remember that it wasn't just "fire" - it was the degree of the fire. architects don't design and contractors don't build to withstand impact and fire from fully loaded jets ..... who would have ever thought someone would do such a thing ![]() the systems in place though, did indeed give thousands a chance to escape ..... |

An oldie, but goodie- You can retire to Phoenix , Arizona where........ 1. You are willing to park 3 blocks away because you found shade. 2.. You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl. 3. You can drive for 4 hours in one direction and never leave town. 4. You have over 100 recipes for Mexican food. 5. You know that "dry heat" is comparable to what hits you in the face when you open your oven door. 6. The 4 seasons are: tolerable, hot-90, really hot-100, and ARE YOU KIDDING (++115) ME??!! You can retire to California where... 1. You make over $250,000 and you still can't afford to buy a house, coast to coast moves are an exception. 2. The fastest part of your commute is going down your driveway. 3. You know how to eat an artichoke. 4. You drive your rented Mercedes to your neighborhood block party. 5. When someone asks you how far something is, you tell them how long it will take to get there rather than how many miles away it is. 6. The 4 seasons are: Fire-due to global cooling and no EL Nino in the pacific, Flood, Mud, and Drought-due to global cooling. You can retire to New York City where... 1. You say "the city" and expect everyone to know you mean Manhattan ..... 2. You can get into a four-hour argument about how to get from Columbus Circle to Battery Park, but can't find Wisconsin on a map. 3. You think Central Park is "nature." 4. You believe that being able to swear at people in their own language makes you multi-lingual. 5. You've worn out a car horn. ( Ed note: if you have a car) You can retire to Minnesota, Montana, North & South Dakota, Alaska, Idaho, Maine where... 1. You only have four spices: salt, pepper, ketchup, and Tabasco 2. Halloween costumes fit over parkas.. 3. You have more than one recipe for moose. 4. Sexy lingerie is anything flannel with less than eight buttons. 5. The four seasons are: winter, still winter, almost winter, and construction. You can retire to the Deep South/Texas where... 1. You can rent a movie and buy bait in the same store. 2. "Y'all" is singular and "all y'all" is plural. 3. "He needed killin'" is a valid defense. 4. Everyone has 2 first names: Billy Bob, Jimmy Bob, Mary Sue, Betty Jean, Mary Beth, etc. 5. Everything is either "in yonder," "over yonder" or "out yonder.." It's important to know the difference, too. You can retire to Colorado where..... 1. You carry your $3,000 mountain bike atop your $500 car . 2. You tell your husband to pick up Granola on his way home and so he stops at the day care center. 3. A pass does not involve a football or dating. 4. The top of your head is bald, but you still have a pony tail. à True in California-too….. 5. The four seasons are: winter, still winter, almost winter, and summer construction. You can retire to the Midwest where... 1. You've never met any celebrities, but the mayor knows your name. 2. Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor. 3. You have had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" on the same day. 4. You end sentences with a preposition: "Where's my coat at? " 5. When asked how your trip was to any exotic place, you say, "It was different!" AND You can retire to Florida where.. 1. You eat dinner at 2-3:15 in the afternoon. 2. All purchases include a coupon of some kind -- even houses and cars. 3. Everyone can recommend an excellent dermatologist. 4. Road construction never ends anywhere in the state. 5. Cars in front of you often appear to be driven by headless people.
