Sat down with DH this afternoon and spread out the calendar and recorded all of his Dr. appts. and lab appts and anything else that needed jotting down...still one other appt. for May to come in but we are trying to leave the last two weeks in May free for our spring vacation to Avalon. I learned today that Catalina Express is temporarily moving all of its scheduled Long Beach to Avalon boat service from the Downtown Long Beach Catalina Landing to it's port at Berth 95 in San Pedro. The move, necessary to accommodate dredging in the Catalina Landing basin, is effective Tuesday, Mar. 9, 2010 through Thursday, April 15, 2010. Catalina Express will operate the Long Beach schedule of service from San Pedro. For schedule information, visit www.catalinaexpress.com or call 1-800-429-4601...so, if anyone knows someone that plans to visit Avalon during that time be sure they know of the changes. |

The Catalina Express "Ride Free on your Birthday" is still in effect. http://www.catalinaexpress.com/birthday_promo.php Seniors do get a discount off the standard fare if it isn't your birthday. There are a whole host of "Freebees" for your birthday all over Avalon. http://www.catalinaexpress.com/birthdayIsland.php It is a promotional deal to get you into the stores and vendors to spend money but what the heck... it is a kind of "scavenger hunt" to see how many you can get to while you are there and you may end up in places that you didn't know were there and find some cool stuff... we did! I love that Avalon helps celebrate those with birthdays. Unfortunately, my birthday is in August, and the island is crazy! Maybe some cocktails on the way over and who cares how many people. |
