Empty nest syndrome. We always seem to manage to find much to talk about all winter long. I've been following Deb and Gary's most egg cellent camping adventure too. I love all the bon fires. We could never have them here in California. I found another animal web site. This photo from the Daily Squee is adorable, but the little piglet looks annoyed. Clearly he's thinking that dressing up an adorable baby animal is a waste of time and costuming resources. "Can't you see that I don't need accessories to be cute, people? Don't you realize that pigs love mud? All I wanna do is cover every inch of my fuzzy little pig body with oozing, gooey, wonderful mud. But no! Some neat freak armed with two pairs of inexplicably tiny wellies is conspiring against me. Curse this footwear!" ![]() |

Point Defiance Tiger Cubs Defy Belief Last month, we brought you some of the most adorable tiger cubs we've ever had here on ZooBorns. Now, the Point Defiance Zoo's Tiger twins are out an about. At 8-weeks-old, the pair are growing ever more independent, and enjoying their outdoor environment. We are enjoying their eager expressions and googly eyes in these wonderful new photos. ![]() http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/2010/07/port-defiance-tiger-cubs-defy-belief.html |

Beautiful captures Naturegal. :soar: DS landed safely 6:30 am this morning at LAX. He flew non stop ( 15 hours ) El Al Israel airline. I asked him how the flight was. He said it was really great. They took off midnight from TLV his time and he slept 1/2 the flight. He sounded rested. He was picked up at LAX by a friend and DS is spending today fundraising for his Israeli program. His LA friends have made appointments for DS with people they think would like to sponsor DS program. I wish him luck. We might be picking him up tonight, DS is going to call us later today. mmmm doesn't this look good? ![]() Posted by Robin Labels: Corn and Blueberry Salad, Spicy Mango Dressing This is one of those salads that started out simple and escalated from there. I had a ripe mango, so I made a nice spicy mango dressing. Then I noticed a couple ears of leftover corn and a container of blueberries in the fridge. That’s when things started clicking. After removing the corn from the cobs and combining them in a bowl with the blueberries, I added some dark red kidney beans for protein (and a lovely color contrast) along with a chopped cucumber, sliced carrot, a couple minced scallions, and some cilantro (although I’m sure, parsley, basil, or tarragon would be equally lovely). I can tell you this wonderful summer salad tasted even better than it looks! Here’s the dressing recipe — in addition to using it on salads, it makes a yummy dipping sauce for spring rolls. Spicy Mango Dressing 3 tablespoons mango juice or mango puree 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice 1 tablespoon agave nectar 1 tablespoon minced fresh cilantro 1 tablespoon minced scallions 1/2 teaspoon sriracha or tabatio sauce (or more, to taste) 1/4 teaspoon salt Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl. Stir to blend. Posted by Robin Labels: Corn and Blueberry Salad, Spicy Mango Dressing |

Brigantine Nest Eaglet Rescued on Hornby Island A young was rescued from its nest tree yesterday. The young man removing him from the branch had been hand-feeding it for a week ( I guess that's why he tried to grab it's leg with his bare hand ) He was flown by the same pilot in the same helicopter to the same rehab that Phoenix was taken to before the necropsy.Eaglet Rescue Preparation for Helicopter Ride - part 1 Helicopter - part 2 Video's taken by Doug Carrick |

Hi everybody. Sorry, I've been meaning to log in all day and just kept getting distracted by house and garden stuff. Ozzie, best wishes to Rachel as she moves out on her own. You did well to be so strong and I'm glad you insisted on photos. The place where Rachel will be living is a beautiful building. I noticed that she seems to have her own room which would be great for studying. We have two Rachels growing up, so sweet, one on her own at school and one getting married. I receive emails from the Pacific Whale Foundation. The most recent one said that the white whale, Migaloo, was sighted on July 21st. "Migaloo, the world's only documented all-white humpback whale, has been sighted already this season off Australia's eastern coast. This famous whale was sighted on July 21 off Port Douglas, about 3 nautical miles north of Snapper Island by the vessel Quicksilver." Topa, I'm glad that Daniel has arrived safely. Your wedding cake lady has created some very delicate and finely-detailed cakes. I'm looking forward to seeing all the wedding photos but no rush of course. You will be tired and busy in the days after the wedding. Carole, terrific flight photos of K-07. We were listening to the nest earlier today and heard the seals, too. Wish we could all go to the Lilypad picnic. My kitchen light has a tracking number and today I was able to log in and follow its journey. It might be here tomorrow. This morning it was in Buffalo and it is now in Canada .... working its way here. It started in one of the Carolinas. |

Carole, I really like your eagle wall of fame, very cool. If Ian would just move out I could have one like that. Please show us what it looks like once you've hung your newest additions.
