08/01/10:
We have a YouTube video taken yesterday that shows Hope flapping and his big sisters showing off their flying skills for him. Hope looks really close, so we think it won't be long

Good Morning Cruzers

We are under a severe weather watch right now so I'm glad we went to the beaches yesterday :D I may have to go offline shortly though because it is thundering as I type.

Anxiously awaiting some :clk: :clk: from the wedding. Thanks for posting the pic you took yesterday of the street side with the sign Jill. What a beautiful building and grounds for the ceremony :)^

DS woke us up this morning with a phone call from Montreal. He had been asleep at 5:30 AM when suddenly there was a terribly loud 'crashing' noise :o He ran to his front window and there was a huge SUV flipped over on it's roof lying right next to his car in the street :o Not only that but the SUV took out a brand new VW and a Mini Cooper was totaled. DS arrived in time to see the driver crawling out of his over-turned vehicle.

Since the street is very narrow with cars parked on both sides, apparently the speeding vehicle was launched into the air after totaling the mini Cooper and flipped over. DS's car is the silver Hyundai. Luckily there wasn't any explosion :8O: DS was so lucky his car only sustained a slight dent near the driver's side front headlight. The police wouldn't let him back it up either since it was a crime scene. He was worried the tow truck would damage his car further but they attached chains to the SUV and dragged it away before hoisting it up.

What a way to wake up on a Sunday :P

Lily the Bear - Update July 31, 2010 - 10:58 PM CDT

Sharing with Lilypad Picnickers

Posted Image

The Lilypad Picnic is a wonderful gathering of caring people. Today was a celebration of how a simple web cam brought so many people together to learn, become friends, and pass on the knowledge. It was a day of mutual appreciation for what we have all done for each other and for bears. There were mutual thank you's, hugs, and sharing the joy with words and taking pictures together. There was food! We don't know how many times Lynn signed his name and "It's me, bear" on t-shirts, name tags, thank you cards (with a collage of Lily and Hope pictures), books, etc. We don't know how many times Sue signed her name and "Thank you, bear" on the same. There was no lack of things for everyone to talk about - Lily, Hope, the fun of Facebook, what they learned, how it changed their view of bears, and what they are doing to help bears. It was gathering of people who had never seen each other but were immediately friends.

We didn't get out to see Lily and Hope today but we did check their signals to confirm they are together.

Thank you for all you do. I know there were many who wanted to come and couldn't for one reason or another.

~Lynn Rogers and Sue Mansfield, Biologists, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center

Penny - What a way to wake up :8O: . Thank goodness his car wasn't totalled and even better, he wasn't in it. Irresponsible drivers going too fast on a narrow street should have their license revoked for 6 months at least.

Jeepers, :o what a shocking way to wake up for your DS, Penny. I looked for damage on his car and it is amazing how the other car landed so close yet there was just a dent ... considering what it could have looked like. That was quite a crash! I hope the police threw the book at that careless driver.

We have a nice day here today. Not much happening around here, going to visit my MIL. Ian and his group of friends have rented a cottage for this holiday weekend. I'm trying to get DH to rent either the Darwin movie that Topa posted or "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". Our neighbourhood video place has gone out of business so we either have to figure out how to buy one to watch from the TV provider or drive farther to rent a movie.

Have a good Sunday, everyone. Will check in later, maybe there will be some <3 :clk: .

Topa how special is that? Rachel looked lovely in her dress and to have the butterfly gift on her bouguet was so magical. It seemed to like being on John's finger too :D

DS said the young Asian male driver told the police he was trying to avoid 'something' in the street but there were 2 eyewitnesses who saw the whole thing happen because they were just walking by at the time. Can you even imagine what could have happened to them? DS also mentioned that for some strange reason there was a smashed up coconut in the street too

Penny - Does your son live in the student ghetto around McGill because that's where my grandson used to live. He was on Aylmer Street.
