I Zooborns, it's the sugar in my morning coffee! So are my friends & IWS.org ![]() August 11, 2010 Elderly Mom Surprises All in Tel Aviv There is happy news at the Tel Aviv Zoological Center. Rochale, a 41 year old female Orangutan, has given birth to a healthy infant. A decade earlier, Rochale gave birth to Tel Aviv's last Orangutan arrival. In the interim, many attempts had been made to expand the center's Orangutan population including bringing two young females, Sisi and Tusi, from Germany. To the surprise of all, Rochale, Tel Aviv's oldest female, is carrying the torch for a second time! http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/primate/ |

Good morning. Penny, thank you for that Seal link. I signed it immediately! It just makes me soul sick what some people are capable of and the thinking they use to justify it. My DD, Lori, appreciated so much your thoughts and sympathy on the loss of their Neppi. Thank you all, for her and me. She was so sad she couldn't even talk to me until yesterday. She and her DH, Jeff, felt it marked the "end of an era". All our beloved animal companions have now gone to and it will be a long time, if ever, before any of us will have another. It's the first time since she was 5 or 6 that there weren't lots of creatures in our homes: Cats, Dogs, Birds, Guinea Pigs, Snakes, Tropical Fish, and even a Monkey in the early 70s when they still sold them in Pet Stores and required a Wild Animal Permit. Thankfully they haven't sold Primates in stores for many years, but I was a young, my then (not)DH (short misbegotten second marriage ) had had Monkeys and wanted one, we had lots of creatures, and I even was applying to work at the Zoo. I was accepted to the L.A. Zoo training program but when I got divorced I had to give that up and go back to work in animation to support Lori and myself. Worked out better in the long run.

K-07 More sorrow for poor Phoenix. I must have been having a Senior Moment, or a one, earlier when I said we'd had animal companions since Lori was 5 or 6. I was thinking of the ones we had after her Dad and I divorced and didn't think of our wonderful first Doggie, Cleo, who we had when we were married (as teenagers) and when Lori was born. She's the beautiful little Beagle mix I once posted pics of.

I believe the CI Eagles have been very successful and survival above the 50% rate .... but this year .... wow - it's been heartbreaking.... knowing how difficult it is for them once they take that leap of faith and fly, it does not make it any easier when one is lost ![]() 07 :soar:
