![]() A Handful of Baby Tenrecs In late June, the WCS Bronx Zoo welcomed two baby Lesser Hedgehog Tenrecs. While they might look like hedgehogs, and even have hedgehog in their name, they are actually a totally different family of mammals. Tenrec species come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, with some looking like hedgehogs, some like mice, and some even like otters! http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/2010/08/a-handful-of-baby-tenrecs.html |

Good morning! Thanks for starting the thread today, Bette! I have to look at my photos of our night out at Cabaret - only took a few. We had a great time. I don't know his actual title but I would say that June's son is the theatre manager - he was everywhere working on everything. It is just a small theatre in a lovely old art deco building which has been recently restored following historical guidelines and rules. The windows had to be specially made in New York. Rob was managing all the staff, the tickets, lots of things behind the scenes that I couldn't see, working to help the young fellow at the bar (no alcohol license yet) and he actually mainly built the bar since the old one was awful. June and I had seats at a little round table with a red tablecloth and a little lamp. There were two rows of tables with bentwood chairs, then the rest of the audience was in tiered seating. The tables were part of the cabaret and a lot of the time the characters sat at the tables with the audience members (not us, June made sure we were in the second row of tables once she found out what was going to happen). The director and cast did an excellent job of showing the theme of the play with the dark Nazi side always hovering over everything while inside the Cabaret everyone was living in the moment. They had a tiny budget and did an outstanding job within that with the costumes and props. All of the actors were volunteers .... mostly local folks and even several high school students, including the girl who played Sally Bowles. Her family was there ... you could see how proud they were of her. The band was great, too. The person who did the Joel Grey role was freakishly awesome, oh, my. |

Penny, that little owl does look like a Star Wars creature. Weren't there some children's toys awhile ago that looked like that? It sure liked getting its head rubbed. Have you ever visited the High Tea Bakery that I mentioned the other day? |

Good morning. With Black Cats for Friday the Thirteenth I have to remember my precious Angel Clare. He was the sweetest kitty I ever knew, he never left my side if he could help it, and was almost 20 when he went to . On Halloween he always sat in the window as if he was showing off! ![]() Topa what a wonderful success the wedding was! It looks like it was picture perfect and I can't wait to see the rest of the photos. What a good idea for Rachel to have a Mini Wedding dress for the after celebration. It seems like you all thought of everything. |
