We're in WI on an architectural tour with Gary's local AIA chapter - 25 of us! What fun - a bit humid but not hot!

I posted some "phone" photos on FB yesterday

Madison has a killer market so we hear so we're gonna walk over before the bus comes, and have a look

be well all - will try to catch up tonight - we should be back earlier to the hotel and tonight it's every person for himself for dinner so......

take care - later

Red Panda Cub Gets a Check-up
Vets at the UK's Chester Zoo got their fist opportunity to get a proper look at their new Red Panda cub, who has been kept away from prying eyes by its doting mum (except for these awesome pictures). The cub’s check-up went well with a clean bill of health and a snazzy new microchip (just in case). But the real excitement came when they discovered that the cub was female, a first for Chester Zoo! Keepers are now thinking of a suitable name for the newcomer.

Blackwater Nest Update

08/13/10:

We're still seeing photos that seem to include our mother osprey,
so it appears she hasn't left for migration just yet, although we
would expect her to go before September

It's a quiet day on chat today so I will vent :8O:

After having the air conditioning people here 3 times in the past 2 weeks, I woke up this morning and the house was 62 degrees, brrrrrr. The A/C wouldn't turn off even though the thermostat was set at 73. I put on a sweatsuit first thing this morning and had DH call the repair people. They said they couldn't come until Monday and DH threw a fit, said we were priority clients as we had a service contract, and they sent a repairman this afternoon. He finally figured out what the problem was, a new electrical relay from the A/C unit to the thermostat, and replaced it. As of now, all is working well, and I am not "crabby" any more. Keeping :X: that it works. Another day, another problem solved and it didn't cost us a penny :P .

Hi. Just checking in. Nothing much to report. Ed's tests are next week and we're both dreading and worrying about them. :(

Carole, glad you got your AC problem worked out. How awful not to be able to stop it! We had the opposite problem with the radiant heat here when the thermostat in our bedroom broke and it went on high in the middle of Summer. They couldn't get anyone out to fix it for over 24 hours and it was way too hot to sleep in the room :8O: Being cold is my worst fear about going to England. As a So Cal native I get cold when it gets below 70. I don't know how to keep warm in freezing temps. Ed does, so hopefully I'll learn. :X:

Kris - You are so cute <3 . I have to have a very cool bedroom at night or else I can't sleep, so I set the thermostat quite low in the evening. Alan thinks I am out of my mind, but then again he can sleep anywhere, any time and at any temperature :o .

I am sending you and Ed lots of Cruzer Mojo for Ed's tests next week. At least he will have a proper diagnosis and/or reason why he is suffering so much and then the doctors can give him the right meds that will ease his discomfort. If one of the tests is a colonoscopy, the worst part is the prep, the rest is painless with mild sedation. Both DH and myself have had routine ones and as a matter of fact we are due this fall for a follow up one. Good luck for all the tests, I will be thinking about the both of you. :X:

Vent away Carol! :D I always do... :)

It's been the coldest summer I've ever experienced in Cali.
Today we took off packed for the beach and had to run errands
until the fog cleared at 3 pm.
It was nice at the beach, very few people because of the fog.
I got to play ball with Zoey and a 2 year old newfie.
Here's a video of the water.
You can hear jazz music in the background DH has a solar powered radio.
It's hard to play ball and video at the same time. :P :P B)

Carole it is a colonoscopy and an endoscopy at the same time. :8O: I've never had either despite doctor's advise, due to anxiety and no obvious need for a diagnosis. But poor Ed has had several years of worsening symptoms and suffering that he has to have them before it gets any worse. We've been reassured that the incidence of complications is low, but a risk factor is the inflammation level he has, and he has asthma, which worries us for the anesthesia, though the doctor is reassuring that it's very safe. He'll have Propofil because he's had an asthmatic reaction to an ingredient in the other main one they might have used when he had it in a pain patch last year that the pain doc prescribed. Meanwhile, he's giving me all his "just in case" instructions about his book and video projects :hair: :'( and what to do if anything happens. I'm sure he'll be fine but he's been in such a bad state it's worrying nonetheless. :( Please keep some good thought. :X: Thanks. :Hugs:
