Artsy, Just watched the otter video, How sweet. Loved it. :D
I have two lovebirds who hold hands sometimes. <3 <3

Circle, Weren't the Tongva the tribe that named Pee'ich?
Doesn't Santa Monica have enough people who
would be interested in preserving the sacred location?
A Land Conservancy?

Loved the crop circle.

Kris, that's a fascinating article about the crop circle and all the background information. I hope somehow that the sacred springs can be protected. It looks like such a peaceful spot.

Penny, such a sweet video of the otters. I saw an otter in the ocean (but not too far from shore) when we were whale-watching in Alaska. People were hooting and hollering about the whales, which were far off in the distance. I kept watching the little otter as well as a seal that swam right up to the boat to look at us.

Bye, Zoey. Too bad that you have to go home, but camp always has to end sometime.

Carole, that's great that the girls can continue with the performing arts program during the school year.

Deb, kudos to you and Gary for doing the blood donation today.

We have rented the 'Creation' movie about Charles Darwin, will be watching it later tonight. Thanks, Topa, for bringing that one to our attention. I haven't seen it advertised on TV and would have missed it completely.

Topa, yes I think it was the Tongva who named Pee'ich. They were called the Gabrielino by the missionaries at San Gabriel but Tongva is their real name. The tribal leaders have had to claw and fight to keep what they have left of the Springs and I don't know of a local Conservancy that might help. Angie Behrns, their female leader, can't speak of the lost petroglyph art without crying. She remembers painted caves in Topanga when growing up that are now completely lost due to abuse and lack of protection. Their lack of "official" federal recognition restricts some of their protections and rights. When the Playa Vista development, at the Ballona Wetlands adjacent to Loyola Marymount, was under construction (thank you Steven Speilberg, et al  ) sacred Tongva burial grounds were disturbed and artifacts lost. Being in too inconvenient a location for developers they were just bulldozed over. :'( Some concessions were made to spare some of the Playa Vista burial sites after that but only after much local outcry. We attended an event at Loyola Marymount held to appease the wrongs done there, and saw some of the disturbed graves exposed next to chain link fence around the construction of condos. :'( :hair:

It probably says it in our report but, a Tongva Elder told us the glyphs in the Laguna Canyon Crop Circle were Tongva symbols of The Creator, and a "warning". There were absolutely no footprints or any signs of people walking on the hillside it was on. We made the only footprints. The soil was loose and crumbly, having been machine graded, and any steps we made showed very vividly. Biophysical analysis by a famous scientist who studies Crop Circles found all the physical changes found in nonmanmade Crop Circles. It was actually made up of mostly bare Earth with some flattened plants, and the soil was tested for herbicides or anything that could account for the lack of growth in the lines of it. It was three glyphs that were 230 feet long and just amazing. Crop Circles have been know to follow people around who are involved with them and this one appeared after Ed fully emigrated here. Security guards working the construction site where it appeared saw "spirits" and "balls of light", like those seen in connection with Crop Circle sites and stone circles, at night and some were so scared they quit! :8O:

Cheryl I'm happy you enjoyed the article. Thanks. :D We have tried to share it with as many Tongva as we've been able to. They had an amazing "miracle" manifest on their land in their language in a place where their sacred sites were being desecrated, just as has happened in England where sites were being threatened, and most have not heard of it. They are such sweet humble people that were deeply spiritual and connected to Nature and Creation, and "God" gave them a sign back. <3

Kris - I find it very sad that "Sacred Ground" can't be established as sacred and respected. :(

Kris "The Crop Circle hoaxers are a lot like computer hackers, in fact some of them are both! They get a great sense of power to sneak into a field, make a formation, see it on the internet the next day, have people thinking it's "E.T" made or are otherwise fooled. They get big $$ for Crop Circles they make for ad agencies and films and they're richer and having much more fun than anyone else. A few years ago they were commissioned to do a Hello Kitty Crop Circle; it earned them 100,00 pounds (about $150,000) Meanwhile, there is a genuine phenomenon that's been documented for hundreds of years that has been lost, confused, misidentified, and exploited, and that is being imitated deceptively by groups of hoaxers and merchandisers in collusion in many cases to carry the "mystery" on for mutual profit. People known for their aerial photos of Circles are even phoned by their hoaxer friends in advance so they can get into the air first thing in the morning for the first and best aerial shots, which they sell in calendars, yearly photo books, T-shirts, mugs, pens, jewelry, etc."

:'( :'( oh my gosh I had no idea - how sad .....

Deb, I had an idea for a fund raiser. I posted it on "what would you like Cafe Press to sell'
I noticed that it was a long time since something was posted there, and I wondered if anyone
checks there. I explained it to Jillers and she thought it was a good idea. She suggested I
mention it to you and maybe you could tell me someplace else I should post it? When I went to Niagara falls I purchased 11X17 double sided photo place mats incased in plastic. I also
purchased the same type of Glacier Nat'l Park. So there has to be a place where these are already manufactured. How great to have likewise eagle place mats, with like Pimu on one side and 49 cruser on the other. Or 81 & 82 on one side and 04 & 06 on the other. I would love to purchased them and the profit could go to the eagles.

Also would you tell how much a membership is that can be paid monthly. The amount is
mentioned.

I truly hope your week will go better for you.

wow that's a neat idea - the problem is that IWS has no storage so it would have to be something thru Cafepress but maybe I can look

this summer - with no nursery duties and so many nests - Peter has rarely been in the office so the magnets have been momentarily suspended BUT I have an idea and will reach out to Peter with that thought and this one when he's back from vacation! (well deserved I might add :) ) thanks for the idea!

Did your friends adopt this little boy Deb? I too might go bird watching down at the beach, but really just want to get a bit of color of my WHITE legs before summer hits so I dont scare anyone.....

I shared my dessert last night (not sure why the photos are loading so big?!)

My date with Trevor was nice. He is very laid back. Bright. Interesting. Slender. Fit. We talked constantly for 1.5 hours (over the din of the pub....) Originally a journalist, moved into PR work and has worked all over the world (Germany, Vietnam, Korea a few he named) for an insurance company. He moved into a less demanding role a couple of years ago after tragically losing his wife. 2 kids in their 20s. He asked if he could call me again, I said I enjoyed our meeting and, yes, call me.

Alan and I are going over to friends for a drink and then up to the country for dinner. This is a little lake town where we used to moor our boat so should be fun to go back to the restaurant we always frequented. Great food and very affordable. :Yum:

Have fun whatever you are doing tonight. :**:
