Summer Sun by Robert Louis Stevenson Great is the sun, and wide he goes Through empty heaven with repose; And in the blue and glowing days More thick than rain he showers his rays. Though closer still the blinds we pull To keep the shady parlour cool, Yet he will find a chink or two To slip his golden fingers through. The dusty attic spider-clad He, through the keyhole, maketh glad; And through the broken edge of tiles Into the laddered hay-loft smiles. Meantime his golden face around He bares to all the garden ground, And sheds a warm and glittering look Among the ivy's inmost nook. Above the hills, along the blue, Round the bright air with footing true, To please the child, to paint the rose, The gardener of the World, he goes. |

What a wonderful world we live in! ![]() Smeagol! (the Aye-aye) Meet Smeagol, the Philadelphia Zoo's new baby Aye-aye, named after the less than handsome character from the Lord of the Rings. These strange lemurs are the world's largest nocturnal primate and, despite their Gollum-like looks, they are shy and gentle. Born July 14, to the zoo’s female, named Medusa, it's a healthy 105g baby boy. http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/2010/08/ayeaye-aye.html |

all fixed Topa ![]() love the poem this AM on the Today Show - they were showing goofballs who approach wild animals (bison in particular) and who misuse the technology publicly available for folks who are going to be in the out of doors! - such as the beacon locators that folks use when they ski... people at grand canyon are just setting them off willy nilly - one was to complain that there water tasted funny geez - what's with people anyway....... be responsible - be smart!rain rain rain here but sun is coming back late today (hope not the heat) I'm enjoying the cool break - the rain - the quiet........ although MIL has a BBQ this weekend so guess she won't be needing rain boss in city today so hope to clear some of the pile on my desk that somehow doesn't get immediate attention ...... soo BBL my kibble rate is still like 50% I need to start guessing better

![]() I'm on pins and needles this morning after I called and found out Ed's endoscopy biopsy results came back. They said there were no appointments this week but when the doctor saw the results he didn't want to wait until his appointment next week to see him, even though before that I was told he had no time available, so we're going this morning. Why he wouldn't get on the phone and say not to worry makes me very nervous. I'll try to get back later with more news. I have my yearly Gyn exam after that and don't know how the day will go. Ozzie you're right, not much scientific info in that article. It was typical of the ones a journalist does when given the assignment of covering the subject, and a manmade Crop Circle to illustrate it! No known researchers were even mentioned, only Doug and Dave, the old guys who tried to take credit for all the Circles about 20 years ago. The "Tully, Queensland Saucer Nests" from your neck of the woods are among those cited as the beginning of recent Crop Circles, but the Mowing Devil is one of the earliest documented English ones. Sightings of "fire balls" are often reported in association, as were with both these examples. These are atmospheric plasmas and are part of the geomagnetic component in their creation. My Firebird article goes into some of the science and has photos of them taken by Ed and others. We think the Fire Breathing Dragons of Olde, and other worldwide legends of fiery beasts and Birds, arose from this phenomenon.Below is a young Russian girl's drawing of her impression of the folk tale about the Humpbacked Pony of the Firebird legends. It tries to account for the flattened crop damage and fiery apparitions seen in relation to them with tales of a white Horse running in the fields at night and the Firebirds feeding on the crops, and were also though to flatten them. This remarkable drawing I found combined the flattened crop, the Pony and the fiery effects of the Firebird. The article erroneously says that they're never seen forming but many people have witnessed them forming, though rare. About 20 years ago Ed interviewed a farmer in England who saw his Brussel Sprout field start to oscillate and then lay down in a swirled circle with no visible effect, not even dust disturbed. He just felt a "cold air mass" move through. ![]() The Mowing Devil of 1678 on Wiki Tully Queensland, "Saucer Nest" 1966 ![]() The Humpbacked Pony of the Firebird legend ![]() Okay, have to go get ready to go to the doctor.
