Topa, fantastic news that Rachel has been hired. That is so exciting. I think she will like the public system since she has worked in that area for two years already. I'm very happy for her. Good things come to those who wait! Way to go, Rachel!

Carole, I wish your ears didn't need the tubes inserted. You've tried everything, though, and you've had this discomfort for a long time. That must have been startling to have your eardrum punctured. Ow! Nice picture of K-10 in the update. |

Cheryl - I 'm still quite uncomfortable with these stupid ears. The puncturing didn't do a thing so tubes will be the answer around the middle of September. I hope that will solve the problem .I know you were visiting your Mom, how is she doing? Tomorrow Alan and I are on an adventure, will keep you all posted when it is finalized. Sorry to keep everyone in suspense, but you all may have good news about tomorrow upon our return trip. |

Carol - I've had 2 medical opinions. I also went through this 20+ years ago and had the tubes put in my ears then (for one year), my eustation tubes are abnormally narrow so that is what is causing the problem. Ozzie - It's spring in Australia and your orchids are gorgeous.

Sunnyland/Carol, welcome and thanks for joining in to chat with everyone. Carole, thanks for inquiring about my mother. She is doing well except for the fact that she tripped on the stairs and fell again the day before we got there. She has another huge bruise on her face and didn't want to go out. We talked it over and she thinks her legs just aren't lifting her the way she expects them to (likely because of the knee operations). We stressed with her that she needs to concentrate 100% when she is using the stairs and not think about everything else. She is like the Energizer Bunny, running around looking after the house (because she wants to). She says she would go crazy in an apartment with nothing to do. It's just too bad that the house isn't smaller. She has a cleaning lady but I think the cleaning lady must think it is an easy peasy job going to my Mom's house. It's already immaculate. Well, either Penny has guessed correctly about Carole getting a puppy or it could be an eagle outing. Now I'm so curious!!! Ian's GF Allison had us over for supper last night. She cooked a really nice meal with ham and potato salad and so on. They are saving up for a house, maybe purchasing in the spring, so I guess having Ian living at home until then will help the young couple out. We watched a good show about Charles Darwin (another one since the 'Creation' movie). It was a National Geographic program covering the time when he had his 'aha' moments about evolution. Ozzie, marvelous orchid! I love the fact that we celebrate opposite seasons, always enjoyable to see what is happening in your part of the world. |

Carole so sorry you have to have the tubes and go through more misery with your ears! Hopefully that will cure the problem. Thank you all for your continued well wishes for Ed. He's been in a lot of pain today and with his doctor out of town won't know the results of the flourescope tests until Monday. Hopefully that will reveal something and give the doctor an idea of what to do. They did find acute inflammation in his stomach but that doesn't explain all the the bleeding. He's been getting worse the past few months and it's very worrying. His autoimmune condition is a big part of it and the way doctors compartmentalize symptoms none of them seem to see the whole picture. |

Cheryl - So sorry to hear of your Mom's accident. It's too bad she won't consider selling the house and moving into an apartment with no stairs. She sounds so full of energy and I guess the house keeps her busy mentally and physically. I hope she heals soon and perhaps one day will be willing to move, it would be less stressful for you and your family. Good news about Ian and Allison saving for a house, much better than wasting money on rent. Hope it all works out for them.
