great buy on the bbq - we'd like to convert ours to natural gas - when we changed our kitchen, we put in a fitting so that all we have to do is drill the hole in the wall and hook on the extension and voila - gas to the grill - just been too lazy but we think about it a lota good friend of ours has his bbq hooked up that way and grills very easily all thru the winter snow

DEB On 5:30PM Channel 2 news they announced that the Jamacia problem should be okay. That they had many working on it. Don't know if you heard or could check! The flowers in the bowl was a lovely idea. Topa such a nice photo of your dH and family. Photos are sometimes such important memories. By the way, East Coasters, They just said on the weather news that Earl was supposed to be upgraded to major hurricane Monday and may be a problem for the east coast. Got some paper work need to do so signing off |

Ozzie, thanks for the book title, have recorded it. Lots of pretty dresses on the red carpet for the Emmys. I don't care about the awards, just the clothes. Deb, your flower arrangements were cheery and casual, perfect for the BBQ. It was good of you to think of some decorations for the party. Carole, brownies, I'll be right over, too. Kris, I like that Victorian covered glass ball. I haven't seen one of those before. Have to get on the treadmill now, missed two walks since Robert was at the ball game. I usually go with him and the dog. After Brynn was attacked by the other dog a year ago I don't want to take him by myself. The Blue Jays lost but the guys did get a bobblehead of somebody to bring home. OK better get moving and get those shoes on. |

Well, I've been putting off posting this as we were hoping to find her, but Katie has been missing since Friday early evening. My co-worker let her & George out for a bit & couldn't get Katie in since she was on the roof of the walkway, one of her usual spots. So I biked down about 6:30/7pm to find her & put her in, but no Katie anywhere. We've searched for her for two days now & still haven't found her. Tomorrow I'll put out signs. My co-worker volunteers at A.S.A.P., so he knows of all the cats brought in by animal control. I'm just sick about it. So I'm praying she'll come back safe & sound.

Jiller's, Maybe tomorrow you'll have better luck finding Katie because you'll be in the office. I think I took 4 or 5 cute photos to use in the fledge party dinner invitation. I like the Crab Shack because we can eat outside and for the view. Here are a couple of photos. Nice day in Ventura today. ~~~~ ![]()

Lily the Black Bear - Update August 29, 2010 - 6:47 PM CDT Just a Track in the Mud All we saw of Jo today - August 29, 2010 With only 2 more days to go before hunting season starts Wednesday morning, we focused on ribbons and signs today. We tried to get ribbons on 2-year-old Jo but she was a mile and a half inside a roadless area and moving away. We got close to her a couple times, but she kept going. It was hard work on a hot day with nothing to show for it but her track in the mud (photo). This morning, we accidentally scared yearling Sarah before taking her heart rate, which registered an excited 118 beats per minute. For her, a calm heart rate is between 80 and 90. A sign of fall the past few days has been the terrific air show outside the office window. Each fall and spring cooper's hawks and sharp-shinned hawks chase blue jays and crows back and forth across the yard. We have never seen a capture. Things continue to perk in the Education Outreach department. A new flurry of filled-out questionnaires have come in to Coordinator Corelyn Senn. Also, she is hearing interest from several school counselors who have used the den cam and bear research information in their counseling work with students. Corelyn is asking that other counselors who might be interested email her at catspjs@tidewater.net. Groups are working on online lessons, DVDs, pictures to illustrate the various educational categories, a bibliography of bear books, PowerPoint versions of Lynn's two lectures, and traveling Black Bear Boxes. There are so many things going into the bear boxes (different for younger and older students) and more ideas are being explored. There is high excitement about the bear boxes because they are hand's on and very creative (puppet shows, skits, etc.) With 2 days of voting to go, Lily's fans have stretched Lily's and June's park's lead still further. Lily's fans have voted Ely's schools into 52nd and 54th places on our way to getting them into the top 20 for $500,000 each, if we can, by September 4. To vote, go to each of these links, vote 5 times in a row for each school and then ask your network to do the same. It will help education, of course, and will help protect Lily and Hope and the other radio-collared bears as people see what those bears bring to the region via their army. Washington Elementary http://apps.facebook.com/KohlsCares/school/503391/washington-elementary Memorial Secondary http://apps.facebook.com/KohlsCares/school/503401/memorial-secondary We learned to day that another way Lily's fans are helping protect the radio-collared bears is by wearing ribbons, putting ribbons on your vehicle antennas, and elsewhere - letting people know you care about these valuable research and education animals. People are writing on the ribbons, "Spare radio-collared bears" or "Spare collared bears." Thank you for all you are doing to educate and protect in this anxious time. ~Lynn Rogers and Sue Mansfield, Biologists, Wildlife Research Institute and North American Bear Center |

Thanks Penny & everyone. When George was outside today I'm thinking he was probably looking for her. He ended up fighting with one of the cats upstairs & it's owner sprayed them with water to break up the fight. You can imagine my surprise to see George all wet when I arrived! I don't know why this tomato plant did so well, must have liked the location & the compost DH put in the ground there! I've been giving away a lot of tomatoes! I pick a big basketful of them about twice a week!

Cruzer MoJo for Katie! Those tomatos look scrumptious! The hibiscus is gorgeous too. We have one in our yard but the bugs really really like it. |

Thanks to all re: Katie. I hope & pray tomorrow brings good news! Usually white flies love hibiscus here, but so far they've not found this one I have in a pot Ozzie! These tomatoes are pretty good! DH says his favorite are the grape tomatoes, but he says the Juliet is pretty good too! I only like tomatoes cut up in something or on a sandwich, so I can't tell the difference between them! |
