Good morning

what a wonderful slide show of Karen/Rusty's Catalina visit
I've done the sub trip but looks like I need to do the boat trip - great shots of the island and all the things that are there - wow!

Maya is just toooooo cute

it might be September on the calendar but 96 expected to be the temp today :(

earl is coming but expected to stay just east off shore! I'm thinking we may get a little wind but that's about it - all the emergency stuff is being ut into place just in case though -

Another good night with Maya, she slept through the night and kept her crate clean.

This morning is another story, she chewed a hole in the bedroom carpet when I was taking a shower. Alan said he will try to fix it as it is on the edge where the carpet meets the bathroom tile floor. Then she dragged her piddle pads around the room, tried to chew on a kitchen mat, bit my socks and wouldn't let go, and finally decided the dust ruffle on our bed was a chewable tent for her to play with. rofl

This is the typical puppy stage of chewing and teething so she has to be watched very carefully or kept in her crate. The great thing is, she has been doing all her "business" out on the front terrace or when we take her for a walk, no accidents in 2 days.

Carole sounds like you have a real little 'whirling dervish' on your hands

Seriously though, if she starts on the furniture bitter apple cream works like a charm.
For the teething stage, I always found that the cotton rope bones were the best thing because they massage their gums and you can throw them in the washer when they get gungy. They are virtually indestructible!

They come in tiny sizes too and they even make them in flavours now.

Penny - I am using the cotton rope bones, she loves them but everything else too rofl My vet wants her to chew on a big rawhide bone to remove the tartar that is so prevalent with yorkies. It gets messy so I only give it to her for 10 minutes or so, let it dry out and then it gets hard again. She has tons of chew toys so I have to monitor her and say "NO" when she chews on something she is not supposed to use. If nothing helps bitter apple it will be. My friend's dog loved bitter apple :P . I find that her most rambunctious time is the morning after she has had a good nights sleep so will spend more time outdoors with her then. She keeps picking up pine cones and bringing them to me, she is so funny, also snuck under our back gate which only has a 2-1/2" opening, will have to block it off with bricks later on. I wonder what she will do next :8O:

This trio of 9-week-old Asian Small-Clawed Otters pups was photographed yesterday at the UK's Blackpool Zoo by photographer khandog. This species forms monogamous pairs for life and young pups like these are fully weaned only at 14 months - that's a lot of baby otter time! Is that a yawn in the last picture or just munching on otter kibble?http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/2010/08/otter-time.html

Good afternoon! It's another scorcher here today, whew. I'm keeping up with my walking huff puff although Topa is light years ahead of me. I wanted to find a pair of the new 'toning' running shoes but once I had them on my feet I decided to wait. Stores are annoying .... buy two pair and you get 50% off the second pair, but no price reduction for one pair. What's with that? If they had been on sale I would have bought them. It is helping me go farther when I wear my earbuds with some music playing. It sure is hot, though. :*: :fan:

Ozzie, please let Karen know that I really enjoyed her slideshow. :clk: What hotel did they stay at? I looked carefully but I might have missed a sign on a photo somewhere. It looks much nicer than the Portofino. I didn't like it there, found it difficult to breathe in our room because the air conditioner was wonky. Would like to try another place. Their room looked so nice.

Carole, Maya seems to be feeling at home now! :D It is just like having to constantly watch a toddler. Dr. Vet McDreamy, awesome, woo hoo.

Penny, thanks again for all the Lily and Hope updates. I am :X: that the bears all stay safe with their ribbons to help them during hunting season.

Little Jackie did just sing like an angel. Piers was right when he said that we just watched a superstar. Her blue dress and sparkly earrings were perfect. Somebody definitely knows what clothes to choose (or possibly have custom made) for her. It was a really good show last night. DH was putting the garbage out but I knew he wanted to hear Jackie so I called him in to watch her.

Topa, farm :D

Going to watch the dog and dolphin video again, thanks, Carole.
