I really enjoyed your slideshow of Governor's Island and the historical background Deb. I haven't been back to NYC for at least 4 years but always enjoy it so much when I am there. So many things to see and do Ozzie I could tell that was an expensive restaurant by the presentation of each dish and the portion size Lovely of Rachel with her parents....you look fabulous....what a nice celebration

no geese for nY - tell them to fly right on by - we have enough of our own who refust to migrate gary says maybe we need the crane folks to come by and teach them about migration so they get to doing what they should be doing!

![]() Rare Crocodile Breeding Success in St. Augustine! The St. Augustine Alligator Farm has 3 brand new Slender-snouted Crocodiles and 13 more are on the way! Two of the babies (seen below) hatched on exhibit, and the third (also below) in an incubator. African Slender-snouted Crocodiles are rarely bred in captivity and little is known about their habits in the wild. Director John Brueggen says, "we have already learned that the parents opened the nest and carried the eggs to the water to free their young from the eggs. They are both fantastic parents, defending their babies very aggressively." This is a very important pairing as both of these animals are wild caught and have never bred in captivity prior to this. Their genes are an important part of the population of M. cataphractus in captivity.http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/2010/09/rare-crocodile-breeding-success-in-st-augustine.html |

‘Freedom Toast’ ![]() Ashley Palmer. Why not salute your country at every meal this Labor Day? Symbolizing the end of summer and the beginning of fall, it’s a day that’s bound to be filled with mixed emotions. While many people fuss over picnics and barbecues, I thought I’d take a stab at the most overlooked—and arguably the most important—meal of the day: breakfast. I crafted this beautiful red, white, and blue French toast this past Fourth of July, and I plan to revisit it this upcoming holiday weekend. This recipe is easy as can be, and it’s completely egg-free! I find that the best way to incorporate food into any holiday is through color. For this classic dish, I added fresh strawberries and blueberries and just a hint of powdered sugar. I then topped it with maple syrup. How do you plan to celebrate the end of summer? ‘Freedom Toast’ 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk 3 Tbsp. unbleached flour 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla extract 4 slices whole-wheat or sourdough bread Fresh fruit, fruit preserves, maple syrup • Whisk together the soy milk, flour, cinnamon, and vanilla. • Dip the bread in the batter, turning to coat both sides, and then cook in a nonstick skillet until golden brown. • Serve with fresh fruit, fruit preserves, and maple syrup. Makes 2 servings |

Two beautiful Rachels again. We are so lucky to be able to share in their lives! Happy 20th Birthday to Ozzie's Rachel. The special dinner looked delicious. I think this celebration of Father's Day and Rachel's birthday is something that all three of you will remember.Topa, thanks so much for sharing some wedding pictures. The close-up of Rachel is just beautiful. Paige has an excellent eye for setting up the shots, and the colours are so bright. Love the cake, oooh! Keep the photos coming when you have more. Deb, your slideshow was so much fun to watch. You and ES really do get out and about and have a good time together. Nice to see the cruise ship (had to comment on that of course). I liked the photos of you and ES in Little Italy, and the bicycle ones. Kris, stunning photo of Big Sur, hope I get to do that someday. Gidget . Penny, thanks for the photos and article about the leucistic eagle. Sounds like s/he is getting the care that s/he needs. |

"A tired puppy is a good puppy," very true, Carole. Sunny, you must have had so much fun at the hawk watch. How exciting to have some eagles fly overhead, too. :soar: |

Deb I enjoyed your Governor's Island slideshow. You two always seem to be doing something fun. Ozzie that meal did look expensive. Always my favorite way to celebrate a birthday, too. Topa Rachel's wedding photo is gorgeous. Look forward to seeing more. Funny I mentioned Gidget yesterday because it's on the Turner Movie Channel at 3 our local time today. Guess I know what I'll be watching later, or at least have it on as "wallpaper" while doing other things. Also on TV today is a an animated full length film I was a director on at Cartoon Network called "Billy and Mandy's Big Boogie Adventure". Not really worth watching (Disclaimer: Directors have no control over the content, just "acting" and timing) but I may tune in to see my name in the opening credits. (It's on Cartoon Network's cable channel today at 1:30 pm our local time) Prayers for the Bears.

Deb You and ES have so much fun together. I enjoyed the slides especialiy to see "Lady Liberty" Ozzie glad your Father's Day and Rachel's birthday event went well! I don't have facebook. Toppa lovely lovely wedding photo of your daughter Rachel and beautiful cake Cheryl The Hawk/Raptor Migration count will go on every day Sept 1 to No 30. When they get really migrating there can be a kettle of birds (which have to be at least 5 flying together) and there can be a kettle of several hundred birds flying together. There can be as little as 3 cars or a dozen cars of people all lined up with their binoculars watching skyward and counting from morning until late afternoon. :soar: :soar: :soar: :soar: |
