That is an outrage, CDN! Why bother to make these kinds of things federal crimes if there is not going to be any penalty? So I wonder what the judge thought those two young people were going to learn from that. One was 18, the other was a juvenile, probably a friend that was 17. This stuff just makes me so angry. Thanks, Judge! |

biggerImage by Wanda Posted by Dotti Bialek on Lily's FB page Good morning LilyPadders. Over the course of the past week or so, I have learned a lot about "salvage permits" from persons who are or have been involved in DNR albeit not in MN ~ their understanding is that the same generally holds true in most states. This type of permit is typically issued for one of two purposes: education (i.e., display), or to be returned to the wild where natural decomposition will occur. "Burial or cremation" is not an option; furthermore, multiple entities may request a salvage permit and the issuing agency (DNR?) may award it as they see fit. If this is accurate for MN permits, I totally 100% understand the decisions made about Jason's body. Thank you Doc and Sue, for allowing me to follow your research. |

![]() "In March 2011 a new agreement was reached between the USFWS and a majority of the plaintiffs which would have reinstated the delisting in Idaho and Montana while federal protections continued in and plans were developed for Wyoming, Washington, Oregon, and Utah. This agreement was denied by a federal judge in April, 2011, who found that delisting in the current conditions and with a few plaintiffs still in opposition was still not compatible with the provisions of the ESA. Almost simultaneously, and for the first time, the United States Congress became directly involved in the management of an endangered species. The Congress attached a rider to the 2011 federal Budget Agreement that removes wolves from federal protection in Idaho, Montana, and parts of Oregon, Washington, and Utah; disallows further lawsuits to be filed regarding wolf management in these areas; and reinstates a Wyoming U.S. district judge’s decision in 2010 that the USFWS wrongfully rejected Wyoming’s management plan. This article was updated in April, 2011. The status of wolves in the United States is changing rapidly" Warning: This is a 4,000 word document and the beginning paragraphs are very graphic about how the war against wolves was waged from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. Sensitive people should skip those. The Status of the Wolf Part 5: The Wolves of the West |

Here is a link to a page where folks can make their feelings known about the measly one dollar fine for the whooping crane killer. I have already sent in my thoughts. It doesn't take very long to fill in and write a comment. If I find out anything else I will post it here. http://www.vermilliongov.us/prosecutorsoffice/contactprosecutor.html |

We don't know who replied, but there is a beautiful soul working in the dead letter office of the US postal service. Guess there are still a lot of caring people in this crazy world. What a blessing this was! Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words: Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. Love, Meredith We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had. Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note: Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away. Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I'm easy to find. I am wherever there is love. Love, God |
