![]() TO: http://s11.zetaboards.com/IWS_Eagle_Forum/index/ NOW What is the Nest Adoption Challenge you ask? A nest adoption is a $1000 donation, usually made by individuals or small groups. The benefits include an adoption certificate and photo of the chick(s) and an invitation to visit Catalina to tour our facilities and part of the island. Each year during the period that we have chicks in our online nests we allow all contributors, no matter how small or large their donation, to pool their resources to adopt nests. At the end of the Challenge, the benefits of each nest adoption are distributed among those that took part in the Challenge. At the very least, everyone gets the adoption certificate and photo. The more nests adopted, the more tours, etc. there are to distribute. The only requirement is that you specify that your contribution is part of the Nest Adoption Challenge 2011! ![]() The more money that is donated, the more nests that will be adopted and we have 22 known nests as of this years NAC beginning date of 4/4/2011. NAC 2011 runs from April 4th through June 30, but please do not wait till the last day. PLEASE HELP US HELP IWS AND THE EAGLES. |

Anna, you really grabbed my attention with your eagle announcement! I noticed that you have learned how to tilt the text, very nice! Penny, I liked all your pretty colours for your greeting, as well as the eggs in the basket. We are having Easter dinner here so I'm just trying to say hi and then get some things finished up. Yesterday was a busy day. Michele, I made sure to read your presentation from Saturday. You always do so well in sharing the historical background information about the IWS. Have a wonderful day, whatever you are doing, peeps. |

New Playpal for Kasi the Cheetah Cub![]() Busch Gardens’ Cheetah cub has a new companion! Since the young Cheetah cub is being hand-raised by keepers, staff decided to pair him with a Labrador puppy as a playpal to help the animal socialize. Both animals are quite playful and naturally curious about the other. They have been getting along wonderfully. While this is Busch Gardens' first puppy / cheetah pairing, the move is not uncommon at zoos. “Male cheetahs are social and often live together in coalitions,” explained animal curator Tim Smith. “This social bond will be a very similar relationship, and they will be together for life." The Cheetah and puppy each received names yesterday selected by the public. The Cheetah's name, Kasi" means "one with speed" while the Lab's name, Mtani, means "close friend" in Swahili. See pics of Kasi as a young cub here. http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/2011/04/new-playpal-for-kasi-the-cheetah-cub.html |
