I SURE COULD USE YOUR HELP! please follow the link below: http://s11.zetaboards.com/IWS_Eagle_Forum/index/ 2011 Prizes to include: i. an adoption certificate and photo of the chick(s) from the nest of your choice OR ii. a 5-6 hour tour for 3-4 people of Catalina Island and the IWS facilities with an IWS biologist OR iii. a copy of the "Eagles of Catalina" DVD OR iv. one selection from a list of eagle items which includes pieces of art, collectible plates, figurines and more!! OR v. a camera sponsorship of the nest of your choice for any 3 days of your choice! **Anyone whose name is not drawn will receive an adoption certificate and photo for the nest of their choice EVERY PENNY HELPS! SO, go through your last years summer clothes pockets, check behind sofa cushions, winter jackets pockets and scare up some of that extra cash that would probably be a Godsend later on, but just think what you can do for the eagles ! This is a GREAT cause, you cannot deny it. ![]() (posted on behalf of Fancycatnip/Anna) |

OK here's the story ..... ES and I have been trying, trying to figure out a way to get to catalina even if just for a couple of days - and indeed that's what it turned out to be but some is sure better than none ![]() a week or so ago - since our Scouts are not doing an Easter trip this year, we suddenly came up with the idea of why don't we see if we can get ourselves to CA for a couple of days...... we have so many things on our calendar for the next few months which have really impacted our CA trip this year - which looked like it wasn't going to happen So I checked on line playing around and discovered we could get 2 tickets at not too bad a price - we knew though, that we wouldn't be able to visit with anyone this year - this kind of trip would mean in and out..........We arrived in LA on Fri - immediately headed to Avalon - did our tour yesterday - and back to LA today to head home shortly ...... Outstanding tour yesterday (as always) - we headed to Seal Rock and we were able to see the chicks which are the oldest on Catalina! Boy are they growing up We headed to the Airport for Buffalo Burger and the wonderful cookies! mm mm Toured a bit more of the beautiful island ending the day with Pimu and Hydi! Spectacular and a great visit with the "girls"! And we were lucky enough to have 2 bonuses - we saw an eagle not long after arriving in Avalon - it had a fish and was being pursued by a gull as it flew overhead --- ES got a couple of quick shots - not sure how good they are - will post when we have time to sort. 2nd bonus - as we're boarding the Express today - ES noticed a high flying bird being chased and sure enough - another eagle - crossing over Avalon as it headed around the corner to Seal Rock! Again - we are saddened that we could not make a longer visit this year but we're happy that we were able to come to beautiful CA if even for only a couple of days. Hopefully next year will be more "normal" in our obligations here at home - and we can spend a longer time and have many visits with our Cruzer friends.
