Thank you very much, Carole. I had so much fun with all the glitter and the theme. I could hardly wait to post it. The background on this forum sets the glitter off so much better. Thinking of you and Alan and SIL today.

Eaglepedia Revisited May 10, 2007 At the age of 3 weeks, the eaglet will be about 1 ft. high with very large feet and beaks (almost the size of mom/dad). At 4-5 weeks of age, they are able to stand and will begin to tear at the food delivered to the nest. By now it has its secondary coat of gray down and soon the black juvenile feathers will begin to grow in. Down feathers are great insulators but make flight impossible. The eaglet is now 6 weeks old and nearly as big as the parents and at 8 weeks, the appetites of the nestling is at its greatest. Parents will spend nearly all their time hunting for food for the chicks who are back at the nest, spreading and stretching their wings, facing into the winds and maybe even lifting off for a brief period. http://www.baldeagleinfo.com/eagle/eagle4.html ![]() (click on image for larger photo) AND April 19, 2007 At about the age of 4-7 weeks, the appetites of the eagles are enormous. They do not want to patiently wait for morsels of food to be fed to them by the parents; they begin to grab at the parent's bill, pushing and shoving against each other and the parent. They may not even wait for the parent to tear the fish up for them, but instead, grabbing at whole chunks and swallowing them whole! ![]() Here's what we are watching now - parent offering food to chick at SC (photo from Cumbrian) ![]() Here's what we will soon be seeing - some major mantling and demanding !! Penny, I hope your hubby is alright today after the hit and run crash last night. I saw a comment over in CHIL and checked back. Today will be the soreness and all the dealings with the insurance company. That must have been frightening for your DH to look in the mirror and see that the car wasn't slowing down. Just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you both. |

Thank you very much, Linda, Cathy and Deb. I appreciate your comments. We had the really bad wind yesterday afternoon. A tornado touched down not too far away to the south-east apparently. Today it's rain and wind. for all those who are in the path of the dangerous weather .... Laurie, Jeanne, and anybody else that I don't know by name.Terrible to see on the news how many people have been killed, injured, and have had their lives turned upside-down. |

Penny I'm so sorry to hear of your DH's car accident! Thank goodness he wasn't hurt! But how infuriating to be hit and ran on! That happened to Lori and Jeff a few years ago when their Honda Civic was rear ended by a big SUV. It was a new car with no plates and even though bystanders tried to pursue it the perp got away. Lori and Jeff had to have PT for a few weeks to recover. Cheryl an absolutely gorgeous presentation this morning! And so romantic. Deb the pics of your trip are fabulous! What a great get away you guys squeezed into just a couple of days! We saw that house yesterday and, as much as we wanted it to be perfect, it wasn't quite what we were hoping it would be. The road was too close in front and traffic was too noisy, in need of more TLC than we or the very sweet elderly landlords have the energy for, and had a number of other things that just wouldn't work for us, so we had to pass on it, but the rent was very reasonable. It was in a little village called Alton Barnes below the Alton Barnes White Horse and, coincidentally, also yesterday a Crop Circle was found in the field just across the street from it! Obviously manmade from the damaged, scraped and broken stalks, a sure sign of mechanical flattening, but a real synchronicity anyway. Here's a link to the report Here's a pic of the new crop circle, which is in a blooming Canola field, two circles actually, and a pic Ed took of the view of that same field from in front of the house a few days ago when he cycled over to see the outside of it, after our friend who lives close to it told us about the "To Let" sign she saw in the window. (That's his bike and back pack) The house is to the right just out of the picture, only a few feet from the road which you can see the edge of in this pic. Cars speeding by and walkers able to look right into the front windows. It's next door to a great old thatched cottage, that has a wonderful garden that we could see from the back yard. So we'll have to keep looking. If it had only just been around the corner on the small lane, and was in a bit better condition on the inside! ![]() ![]() This is the house. We were so disappointed to have to admit it wasn't going to work for us. ![]() |
