![]() OK here's the last part of our IWS tour ..... the visit to Pimu We got a glance at MR nest but of course it's MT and worst of all, one of the parents (Steff said she would guess Mom) was in the tree, calling out every now and then. We couldn't find her from where we were but we could hear her ![]() I have a few videos of Pimu so when I have a moment maybe I can find a decent one! click on above image to view a few photos! I too - as does everyone else - hope to win an IWS tour with Peter or Steffani Every time I've gone - I learn something new and it's always exciting! Thank you IWS! |

As we collectively turn our IWS calendars to May, we turn our attention from one of the 2010 8 week old chicks at TH - either K-04 Avalon -or - K-06 Gabriel ..... ![]() Capture above from Steffani's IWS Catalina Update on banding day ..... and turn our gaze to A-71 the 2010 Sauces chick giving Jim Spickler his best attitude before being banded. ![]() Actual picture is in a locked thread - thank you Jann for retrieving the code for me. And I just had to include the most recent pictures of A-71 below
# K-04 (F) ... aka Avalon Class of 2010 From: Two Harbors Nest Banded on: May 23 Fledged on: June 23 (Probably before then .. this was first confirmed flight) Where Now? - Posted in 3/30 Chat - The Sarvey Wildlife Care Center in Arlington, WA - "Long awaited update on K04... She has been moved to our Eagle Flight, which she shares with three other eagles. Her recent x-ray shows that the break is healing well, so all we can do is give her time. Although she flies, she has not yet learned to compensate for her wing injury." # K-06 (M) ... aka Gabriel From: Two Harbors Nest Banded on: May 23 Fledged on: June 23 (Probably before then .. this was first confirmed flight) Sadly - deceased Electrocuted ... found in Willamette Valley, OR -Catalina Update: March 10 # A-71 (M) Class of 2010 From: Sauces Canyon Nest Parents: A-27 & A-28 Banded on: June 15 Fledged on: Some time between 3pm June 30th & 2pm July 1 SCI Update: April 19-26, 2011 - back on Santa Cruz Island Note: Info taken from AEATT, IWS Updates and Nest Observations |

I forgot to post this for all who might have been able to attend today's ceremony honoring Ma Norfolk ![]() Image from CCB blog Native American Drum Group, Four Rivers Drum, will play near the base of the Bald Eagles Nest in the Matson Garden Sunday, May 1st at 10:30am at the Norfolk Botanical Garden. It is open to the public, included with Garden admission. All are welcome at this time of remembrance. for a previous performance by The 4 Rivers Drum in November 2009 for Native American Heritage Month."Native Americans believe the eagle is the honored messenger that carries their prayers directly to Great Spirit. I believe Mother Norfolk, beloved Legacy Lady, powerful messenger, in her final flight delivered our thousands of heartfelt prayers of love for her, her mate, her young, her species. In tribute to her illustration of life lived free and full, the inspiration she contributed, and the impact she made upon her family, feathered and human: “When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.” White Elk |
