Observing the bald eagle nests brings us much joy but sometimes sorrow.

We are no longer just spectators of the effort to help the bald eagles of the Channel Islands.

As observors, posters, capture takers and video producers - we have become an integral part of the solution, helping the IWS biologists.

Visit IWS Eagle Forum - 2nd Topic on the Main Page to learn how many more ways you can help and the many rewards available for your supporting efforts!

Thank you........ <3

Some of the ways that you can participate in the 2011 Nest Adoption Challenge:

Become a supporting member of IWS (your membership "donation" payments can be made over the period of a year - small monthly amounts) and you will also receive a "thank you" gift

http://www.iws.org/bald_eagles/membership.htm

Any purchase of IWS items on the IWS.org website - includes T-shirts, sweatshirts, wing bling of your favorite bald eagle, and more

http://www.iws.org/bald_eagles/new_donation_page.htm

Sponsor one of the online cameras - celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, say thank you !

http://www.iws.org/bald_eagles/cam_sponsor.html

Your support during the NAC of the bald eagle project will:

1. Allow you to be a part of the drawing for assorted gifts that will be distributed at the end of the NAC on 6/30/11 - you could win a photo/certificate for your favorite nest, a DVD about the eagles, A TOUR with an IWS Biologist, your choice of a special eagle item and more

2. For a $25+ donation, you will receive a photo of the nest of your choice

3. Bonus for 2011: you may be chosen to name a chick in one of the eagle nests!

Be a part of the solution - help the bald eagles!

Just be sure to note that your donation is for the
"2011 Nest Adoption Challenge" when you purchase/donate. If you are not sure that you got your credit, send an email with the specific information to: Sharpe@IWS.org including your forum name/real names, address and phone #

Thank you for your help!

(you can donate once, twice, as many times as you like - the TOTAL of your donations for the NAC period, will determine your chances when the gifts are distributed in the drawings)

Eaglepedia Revisited

January 23, 2007

Eaglets at birth and the first couple weeks, are covered with fluffy gray down but by the third week, a woolier and darker down plumage emerges. It is short-lived because a week or so later, the chick will begin to spourt its juvenile colors of dark brown, a mottled plumage until adulthood when the white tail and head will appear! The feathers grow rapidly on the back, breast, shoulders and the wings. His beak burns a bluish black and the talons will turn black with bright yellow feet.

CNN reports as of 3:20 am EST that Bin Laden's body has already been buried at sea. While surprising for most Americans, this adheres to Islamic tradition as the body has been buried within 24 hours of death.

The US Military has so much class...they gave Osama a traditional Muslim burial following Islamic laws before they buried him at sea! No grave to visit, no outrage to foment. Of course they ensured beforehand it was actually him by DNA Analysis, facial imaging and his wife's identification of his body.

Edit: Al-Azhar says sea burial of Osama bin Laden a "sin"

The most influential Islamic institution among Sunni Muslims condemns the sea burial of Osama bin Laden. Obama took pains to make sure that Osama would get a proper Islamic burial, but since he wanted to bury the body quickly (in accord with Islamic law) and couldn't find a country that would take the body (and probably also didn't want to create a place of pilgrimage and anti-American agitation), he buried him at sea. He was trying to show the Islamic world that the U.S. is not at war with Islam, but ended up enraging Muslims anyway -- demonstrating yet again that dhimmi pandering gets nowhere.

Ma Norfolks ^"^ ^"^ ^"^ were fed goose meat this morning. Unfortunately one of the nesting pair in the Gardens was found dead floating in the canal on Friday by one of the :<<>>: paparazzi. Their nest had been raided and completely destroyed...might have been a raccoon or a fox :'(

Hi everybody. Sorry I haven't been on the forum for a couple of days. Everything is fine, just busy.

Voted :chk: and have been encouraging Allison to go and vote. She has never voted but wanted to this time .... then she never received a voting card even though the other young women at her town house did get one. I think if she just goes there with some photo ID and proof of address she should be able to vote. It really annoys me when they interview young women on TV who say that they never vote. I had shown her on my card where she could call and register ahead of time but she never got around to it.

We stayed up late to listen to President Obama speak about Osama bin Laden.
