ah Kris that's awful that you've been given notice - grrrr bad landlord well I hope you find a newer - better place and landlord! shame on the agency for not being up front  hope it all works out and the transition is smooth for both of you ....... |

Kris, I am so sorry that your creep landlord gave you notice...I know it will be difficult for you, but maybe you will luck out and find something nice, and it will be a blessing in disguise. I'm surprised that an ethical rental agency will continue to represent him and not warn potential renters about the problems with the house. It's bad enough there are no laws to protect renters, but when you can't even expect honesty from the agency, it makes it doubly bad. They seem to want all kind of assurances that you will be good tenants, but you get absolutely no protection from bad landlords.  Wonder what the agency would say to defend itself. And they will just go on to rent it to other unsuspecting people. Just not fair at all. Hang in there. I keep you and Ed in my prayers.

What goes around will eventually come around Kris The landlord will get his due. Linda is right...there doesn't seem to be any protection for the tenants from that rental agency. I think that once you are settled in a new place you need to spread the word about that guy on every internet (town blog) site you can. Thank goodness you have wheels now and can travel further afield to find something.  and Cruzer mojo going out to you both...such a traumatic time and you haven't recovered from the last one yet I just sent an email to Dr. Rogers about Stephen Cobert...I couldn't sign the petition because it wouldn't accept a Canadian postal code. I'll try to send something directly to him. You don't have to change the weird characters in your post...I used to do the same thing with the Lily Updates but Topa said the forum will adjust it automatically...and it does

Hey all, a gal who rents from my boss on the property, besides foot reflexology, makes jewelry. She just brought in earrings she is working on-a nest with 3 eggs in them! And she is perching a small bluebird on them. I told her she should find a small bald eagle to perch on them & maybe some of you would be interested in them! I will bring my close up lens to work tomorrow & take a picture of them! |

Kris - I'm so sorry to hear about your landlord problems. We went through your same situation about a 1 1/2 ago. You & Ed's situation makes me so . I did some checking on my end here and I found some things - you are probably familiar with them.... http://www.communities.gov.uk/documents/housing/pdf/138289.pdf - See Section 10 in this document. Tremendous appreciation and thanks to you all, Deb, Linda, Penny, Bette, Jeanne, and Jules for your kind thoughts and commiserations.  He IS the landlord from Hell and hopefully his Karma will catch up with him. But it won't be soon enough for us.  I can't believe anyone could be so heartless, especially knowing I lived in the same place for 30 years before moving half way round the world to live here at retirement age, and with Ed so unwell! The agency has misrepresented many things that we have no recourse to address.  They've offered to help us find another place among their listings. We want to stay in the area we're in and there are very limited options being such a basically rural location. Jules thank you so much for the links! I'll look through the info and see what I can learn. We do have a "Short Hold Lease", which seems to be one of the most common, and allows both parties to end it after the term and with specific rules, though this wasn't made clear until after we queried the agency's misinformation.  We have one place to look at in a couple of days, and are searching all the other possible options. I'll keep you all posted, as I can.  Jill, speaking of The Sun... As mentioned there, Edgar Cayce had some interesting things to say about its interactive nature, and Solar scientists predict we're in for a "bumpy ride" going into the coming Solar Maximum in 2012/2013.

I have enjoyed every single one of the NAC presentations this year. You all are amazingly creative! But Jeanne's opening this morning with the larger picture of Spirit and Skye just has to be my favorite! I've been reading chat each day, but haven't had much time to post. My dad was in the hospital from Friday through Monday. He lives alone, and as near as I can tell there was some problem with him taking his meds. Not really sure what all, but he definitely had quit taking his thyroid medication, and he thinks he was taking too much of something else. Whatever happened severely affected his short-term memory. He is a most determined and fiercely independent man, but I'm really afraid he isn't going to be able to live alone much longer. It is a really sad situation, and I feel a bit like I am watching a slow motion train wreck. It is a difficult situation for me to be in, because we have mostly not had much of a relationship for more than 40 years, but at this point he is more or less expecting that I will "be there" for him. Ugh. I will do what I can to help him find proper care, but too much has happened for me to be able to step in and be any kind of a caretaker to him. I've been feeling sad since after work today. I was stopped getting gas and happened to turn just in time to see a pigeon get hit by a truck. It literally exploded into a cloud of feathers, and was able to flap it s wings a couple more times while lying on the ground before it became motionless. The saddest, most horrible part of this for me was seeing it's mate that it was flying with, turn back around and land in the area just waiting for the dead bird to move. I'm gonna have this stuck in my memory for a long time. |
