![]() Happy Birthday Penny! You light up all of our lives with your informative, beautiful, and inspiring contributions. Maybe some of you have seen this amazing Rare Four Eaglet Nest in Virginia, but I wanted to post it in case you hadn't. I found it a couple of weeks ago on a tribute page to Lady Liberty. ![]() Michele, fantastic NAC post, so full of such vivid historic imagery! We're still reeling from the eviction notice and have been scouring sources for something acceptable, but it's a terrible time of year to find anything, with online listings disappearing within hours. We have looked at a very quaint old cottage and might have to take it before it's gone, but it's located on an island with small lanes all around with not much yard or privacy, even though on a small remote road crossing. It's a 120 year old very well maintained house that stands where an old Tollhouse used to be. Even though it's in the heart of the gorgeous countryside valley we live in and is closer to where we wanted to be, and it's actually a short walk from where Ed was living when we met, it only has "solid fuel" heating (wood and coal), and a couple of water heated radiators, and we could be freezing our bisquits off in the Winter. And it's a farther from the village of Pewsey and the shops that we go to almost daily. We'd have to adjust our routine to go less frequently for economy's sake. It's managed by the same agency as the place we're in now and they're being very sympathetic and feel bad for us to be put out so soon, (and they know they misrepresented things, like the non-functioning shower and the landlord they knew was an a**h*le) so they're trying to help us get into something else soon. We're packing and trying to prepare for anything. Wish I was back in my secure little hole in Santa Monica. Topa, those Snake Necked Turtles are so precious. We had California Desert Tortoises when I was a kid and I always had a soft spot for them and their kin. Michele, I see you've had some interesting experiences with them too. Tension has been high and Ed's upstairs cooling off after a frustrating conversation , and as I wrote this we just had a brief violent hailstorm pass over. Hmmm. Think that was my cue to go check on him. Too many Emoticons again, had to neuter them... Jill, the Cinderella images were priceless!! Edited by circlescribe, May 14 2011, 12:09 PM.

Kris, neuter emoticons..... Even though the cottage sounds antiquated, I hope you can get into it.....and living on an island doesn't sound half bad. Although, freezing your biscuits off in the winter, and having little privacy seriously lacks appeal. I'm appalled that the landlord from h#%% can just throw you out on your ear just because you wanted work that was necessary, to be done on the house....which he should've taken care of long ago!!! I can certainly understand how tempers would flare with frayed nerves.....you guys are under a ton of stress right now. Hang in there sweetie. I hadn't see the nest in Virginia with the four eaglets.....in fact I've never heard of a BE having four, before. I'm going to have to check that out. Thank You, Thank You, Thank you peeps for your kind words.....I love American History, and the American Revolution is one of my favorite periods, so when I ran across this info, I just had to use it for one of my posts.....

A few pics of the place we're thinking of moving to. The view of the distant hill is one of the iconic hills in this valley, called Woodborough HIll. The coal bucket in the kitchen is not a prop! It's on a multiple crossroad of small roads, but has a cute little front yard garden. Two bedrooms, but the fireplaces in them aren't functional anymore, just decorative, and have been sealed off. The livingroom and kitchen have woodburning units. Notice the Turtle fountain in the pond. It's been the site of a toll road for travelers and traders for hundreds of years and probably has some interesting history. There's a big sarcen stone at the junction, probably to keep traffic out of the garden. ![]() ![]() ![]() The door goes to the water heater, not a closet, and there aren't built in wardrobes. We'd have to buy one or just use dressers. I don't usually wear anything that needs hanging anyway. ![]()

I had to take George to the vet today. I noticed his lower jaw seemed a bit swollen on one side. I opened his mouth & looked inside for maybe a fox tail. Pushed on the spot & he was not happy. Called the vet & they said I could drop him off. Went & swam my laps & had a voice mail waiting for me. He had a temp of 104 & an abcess that they drained after sedating him. He got an antibiotic shot & fluids & is now back at the shop. Katie wondered where he had been & she's sniffing him a lot! Have to give him antibiotics twice a day & pick any scab off that starts to form between tomorrow & Tues. Boy am I relieved it wasn't worse! I think he may have gotten a dirty nail wound from a fight with one of the upstairs cats recently.

Hi everybody! Terrific eagle post, Michele. I really like reading the stories behind historic events. How special to have one about the eagles during the American Revolution. :soar: Kris, the inside of the house looks really nice, and the views of the garden and across the road are very pretty. It may work out better than you think. We are all rooting for you and Ed, that you find your 'Home Sweet Home' at last. Jill, sorry to read about poor George. The good part is that it can be treated with medication. Good job on noticing his jaw was swollen. Sending get well wishes his way. |

Kris, the house is adorable!!! I see what you mean about the roads......do those little country lanes get much traffic??? Too bad the fireplaces don't work.....but you can always get those candleholders to put in your fireplace....like this one....sans the kitty in the center of the center piece....sorry, this photo is such bad quality.....I was trying to take it without the flash....and it came out blurry.... Or this one from Pier 1....actually, I've seen them in what resembles a log....and they have multiple votive candle holders built right into them...... ![]() Jill, I'm so sorry George has an abscess to deal with.....hopefully now that he's had it drained and is on antibiotics he'll heal quickly....and I'm sure he's feeling a lot better already.....poor baby. Cheryl, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You....
