Seal Rock - Banding Day 2011 Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. ~Theodore Roosevelt~ ![]() "As soon as we arrived to the territory, the female spotted us and begun defending her area. Both, K34 and K25 vocalized and dive-bombed us incessantly the whole time we were out there. They are very good parents so we understand their dislike for us biologists, whom, in their eyes, are simply large predators to their defenseless chicks." ~ Steffani Jijon, May 18, 2011 ~ ....................... ![]() The climb is never easy.... .............. ![]() ................. ![]() .............. ![]() .......... ![]() Nor the task at hand..... ![]() But the rewards are priceless. For some people, going to work means taking a train, light rail, or as often as not, driving to an office building....but for the IWS crew, going to work takes on a whole new perspective. When office workers are taking the elevator to their office, the IWS crew may well be climbing a canyon's waterfall to reach their office....but they do it gladly, because they are making an impact on the life of an American icon....the reintroduction, and the preservation of the American Bald Eagle to the Northern Channel Islands and Santa Catalina Island. To be honest, I can't think of a better way to begin one's day of work. Yorkies stolen during Woodland Hills burglary :help: for videoMelissa MacBride Friday, May 20, 2011 WOODLAND HILLS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Authorities say two puppies were stolen from a home in Woodland Hills, and the family is pleading for the public's help to get the pets back. So many people consider their pets part of the family, and anyone would be devastated to have their dog stolen right out of their house. But this family has been kicked when they were down. Sharron Keesee said their house was broken into on Thursday at about 1 p.m. When the alarm company responded, they told Keesee it appears a burglar popped a kitchen window off it track to enter the home. The suspects only took the Yorkies and their bed. Keesee said the family had just returned from her brother-in-law's funeral. "it just seems like there's an awful lot of sad things going on in our lives right now, but to lose the dogs is devastating," she said. The older of the two dogs, 2-year-old Miley, is a companion to Keesee's husband, who is fighting stage four lung cancer. "She sits with him on the couch when he's having bad days, and he's retired and it's been really important for him to have her," Keesee said. Miley and 8-month-old Tasha not only kept Tom company, but they also cheer up Keesee, who is a teacher. She recently found out that her school is closing at the end of the year. The owners are offering a reward. Anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD Topanga Station at (818) 756-4800. |

Michele your NAC post is simply outstanding. Great images of the Banding Day at Seal Rocks "For some people, going to work means taking a train, light rail, or as often as not, driving to an office building....but for the IWS crew, going to work takes on a whole new perspective." I this analogy ![]() Carole I am so glad those Carolina fledglings keep coming home for the eats. I hope they keep on feeding them as long as they keep coming back
