Eaglepedia Revisited May 1, 2008 Growing Up: Eaglets grow very quickly on their high-protein diet of fish and other meats, gaining up to 1 pound of weight each week. At about 2 weeks of age, they can hold their heads up for long periods of time which enables them to eat more often. By the third week, eaglets are nearly 1 foot tall. With well-developed beaks and feet, they begin to feed themselves, eating food left at the nest by their parents. The parents are not spending much time at the nest but will sit nearby in a tree. Between 4-5 weeks, the young can stand and move around the nest. They are nearly full grown by about 6 weeks, covered with dark feathers and sporting a large dark beak!   AND September 24, 2007 While looking around, I enjoyed this short description written about life in the nest for the chicks: Everything is new and interesting to a newly hatched bald eagle chick and for the first several weeks, they will be learning and watching. They will learn eagle behavior from their parents - how to catch food, what food to eat, different vocalizations and expressions - what they mean to each other and to other wildlife. They will learn where they fit into the food chain and about the predators in their area. They will watch other birds and learn about fox and deer. They will learn how to lift off and how to land, how to turn - to fly!   Cruzers Victoria Day is a federal Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the last Monday on or before May 24, in honour of both Queen Victoria's birthday and the current reigning Canadian sovereign's official birthday. It is sometimes informally considered as marking the beginning of the summer season in Canada. Victoria Day is also a mark of the beginning of the cottage season, the time when cottage owners reverse the winterization of their property. Gardeners in Canada will similarly regard Victoria Day as the beginning of spring, as it falls at a time when one can be fairly certain that frost will not return until the next autumn. The holiday has been observed since before Canada was formed, originally falling on the sovereign's actual birthday, and continues to be celebrated in various fashions across the country on the fixed date. Royal salutes (21-gun salutes) are fired in each provincial capital and in the national capital at noon on Victoria Day. |

I was looking for my carole bling photo too but couldn't find it  gary just got the new computer so it's been crazy getting the laptop linked - and everyone having access to everything - and files getting moved  but looks like almost there!hope everyone is good this morning I have a few posts to catch up on I can't believe June 3 is only a couple of weeks away I hope the NAC really kicks into high gear over the next few days - finishes strong as we always have! The posts and promos have been absolutely wonderful and I'd like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Team!

The news from Joplin Missouri this morning is just horrific. A big part of it was flattened and their hospital took a direct hit from that huge tornado. There are at least 89 people who died so far and the lightning from another severe thunderstorm has started there .. 3 inch hail and at least 4 more inches of rain expected to add to everyone's utter misery   Prayers for all those affected  Storm Chaser Video (:41) Destructive Joplin Missouri Tornado (3:35) Joplin Tornado Damage from the air (3:25) |
