Eaglepedia Revisited May 25, 2008 Chicks take their first flights between 10-12 weeks of age. The first flights are usually short, to a nearby tree or cliff face. Sometimes they land on the ground where they may stay for a day or until they gain enough strenth to fly up into a tree. Once eaglets leave the nest, they usually don't return. The young leave the nest when the timing is right. (NOTE: in 2007, Limuw was fed at the nest often after he fledged - The 2011 TH chick is doing lots of wingercising and is beginning to get a bit of air in her hops about the nest while flapping - very soon she'll figure out that if she spreads her wings wide into the wind, she can get a bit of lift - it won't be long ...... )"Majestic Eagles" 12 week old chick w/parent - branching chick - one has fledged/the other not quite Visit Eaglepedia DISCLAIMER: Information here has been gathered in good faith from the internet and cannot be guaranteed to be totally accurate. |

![]() Good Friday Mornin' Peeps....... Deb, the Bald Eagle this morning is just beau-tif-ish-ous. Hmmmmma class of Geocaching.....I'd love to go to that one. Last year it was quite a surprise to find a Geocach in the Pet Cemetery in Avalon.....that was a first for me. I have a friend from school who is into geocaching, and it has become a family activity......which I think is waaayyyy too cool. Topa, your NAC post is just BEAUTIFUL!!! I love those colors, and I truly miss seeing the PH nest in the early morning hours like your pix. Great Job!!! Carole and Bette, WoooooHooooo Eagleland.....although, my heart gets a slight twinge every time I see the Norfolk triplets in the Hacktower. Only because it makes me think of the loss of Ma Norfolk. I seriously loved that girl. Bette, the pix of your fleurs are just stunning. Thank You for posting them. |
