i posted this late yesterday so thought I would repeat for today.

I've been voting every day in the Eagle Rare contest and I will continue to do so.

However, I did delve into the rules and thought I should make everyone aware so there is no disappointment at the end.

Even though Dr. Sharpe is one of the top votegetters he still may not win anything. There are several phases to this contest. After all the stories are submitted, the contest sponsors select the 20 stories they want to go forward with. They pick the ones they want not necessarily based on votes.

The 20 stories are then put on their website for further voting. At the end of the voting the sponsors then pick the 7 stories they think should be awarded prizes and they then judge those stories based on a criteria published on their website. Voting only counts 10%.

Another thing I'm not sure people realize is voting goes until January 5, 2012.

One disadvantage I think we have is that Ed Clark from the Wildlife Center of Virginia (where the Norfolk triplets are) is also nominated. He has a much larger lead than Dr. Sharpe has. Based on the comments made after the Chase Giving prizes were awarded, I'm not sure the judges will pick two wildlife stories. There were a lot of comments by people complaining because animal and wildlife groups won in Chase Giving as opposed to "People" charities. I hope I am wrong but it doesn't hurt to be pre-warned.

It has really cooled down here...a high of only 24C/64F. We might get some :rn: but then it's back up into the 80's again for the next week :)^

Thanks for the wonderful info on the Norfolk ^"^ ^"^ ^"^ Christine. I love how Ed Clark explains 'stuff' to the masses rofl

It is really good to know the details on the voting and I have to agree with your assessment of what the probable outcome will be vis a vis animal vs people causes.

I'll still be voting for B-)) every day :)^

It's good to be home. I left late yesterday instead of this morning, couldn't wait to see Alan and Maya.

Mom is doing better. Last week they thought she had C-difficile (hospital infection), and was put into quarantine. There is a big outbreak of it in the hospital. Fortunately she tested negative so is now back in a regular room. We are working on getting her into a nursing home until we can find a permanent residence with more nursing care. She can't go back to her old place which is really disappointing to her. :'( She understands that private nursing help is $250.00/day and no one can afford that amount and she has no private medical insurance.

Will return to Montreal in about a week but right now am cleaning and doing laundry. Men don't keep the house like we do

More chores to do, will check back later.

:}^ Carole. Good to see you 'back' :D

So sorry your Mom will not be able to go back to her home as she knew it. OMG, that bacteria is so scary. :X: for her she never comes into contact with it.

What did Maya do when she saw you? Was it the Yorkie enthusiastic 'hello' or was it the cold shoulder ignore treatment because you had 'abandoned' her? We get the ignore a lot when we come back because Siobhan likes to go for car rides and she pouts when she gets left behind ;)

Welcome Back Carole. We really missed you. :Hugs:
Glad your mother is doing better. <3

CDN, I'm sorry I forgot to mention the beautiful crane taking it's first flight.
Looking forward to their Journey North.

I hope you don't mind I post this here since some of the newbies and local
Cruzer's from Ventura County (Cruzneyland) might want to know about
this new program so they can help. :ok:

ojai and ventura county locals working hard to make a difference.
Let's give them our encouragement
(and donations would be good too). Gayle :><:

One thing for certian we all feel the same way about IWS
and all our Cruzer members. (((GH)))
No hard feelings here.. :Hugs:

BBL .

I must have been missing something here!!
But we're still the "Cruzers" , aren't we?????
