Ed Clark, WCV: For the first time in its history, the Wildlife Center of Virginia will be releasing FIVE bald eagles in a singe event. We will be releasing the three Rock Stars from NBG, but we'll also be releasing a bird from Hampton that came in on June 3, and the bird from King & Queen County that came in on July 14. All five birds are young-of-the-year. All five will find ample food, habitat and other eagles in this area. Berkeley Plantation is an ideal spot for this to take place.... it will be a celebration of the recovery of the bald eagle in Virginia and in the United States. ![]() WVEC.com will be streaming live from the release, but no time has been set yet. Viewers will be able to see the live stream on the Eagle Cam page where the video is currently seen. There will be audio during the release and the timeout function will be disabled.13News reporter/anchor Joe Flanagan will be covering the release for TV. DGIF biologist Steve Living will be operating the webcam for the live stream and providing a live description of what is taking place. Video and photos and news stories of the release will be posted on the Eagle Cam page as soon as possible and will remain online indefinitely. WVEC CAM |

![]() July 26 Sometimes the only way to break out of darkness, out of feelings of loss and discouragement, is to stop focusing on what is going on in your head and do some hard physical work. herondance.org ![]() ![]() Just to remind everyone to visit the Howl Across America FB page and connect with other wolf advocates, in preparation to HOWL in protest, August 2011. You can join an existing rally or organize one in your hometown. Speak out against the upcoming brutal wolf hunts AND the proposed unregulated killing of Wyoming wolves. The Howl Across America Facebook page is the headquarters for this event, providing a forum for networking with others in your area. An Automated Phone Call Alerting You That You Lost Your ATM Card- Phishing Scam! This is a telephone call from a computer generated voice warning you that your ATM bank card has been reported lost or stolen. This is a scam called "phishing" to trick you into giving out your personal information to identity thieves. If you get such a call do not respond to it and hang up. One of the call back numbers is (970) 532-4041 and actually belongs to an automated telephone service company but according to the message on their phone system they did not make the call and their call back number was used by the thieves without their knowledge or permission. For more details go to: http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/automated-phone-call-lost-card.htm |

Jill, those phishing scams are so insidious! I've just had a problem with my Yahoo mail this week. I couldn't log into it, then they sent an alert saying they thought my account had been "compromised" and I should change my password. I verified it was from Yahoo and didn't click any links, but went through the main Yahoo log in site and changed my password. Now I'm worried what kind of "compromise" it could have been. Just what I need: more anxiety. I'll be having to do all internet activity at the public library for at least three weeks while we get moved and reconnected, and now with added paranoia. Does anyone know about this Mackeeper tool to "clean and secure" your Mac? It sounds like a good thing but IDK! Without our Mac guy back home we're in uncharted waters with our computers. Carole, I hope Maya is feeling better today. Ed lives with that kind of bleeding stuff and as alarming as it might seem, it doesn't always mean the worst is going on. Tho in his case it's chronic and not so easily remedied. It's the 100th anniversary of the rediscovery of Machu Picchu and I found this awesome pic of it in an online article. I'm sure I'll never get there but have always been amazed at its existence. An incredible world we live in. ![]() Topa, that petition link wanted me to "turn off secure browsing" to access it and, as much as I wanted to sign it, in light of my recent Yahoo problem I'm afraid to. I had already voted, Kibbled, AnimalRescue sited, and lit candles for Bette tho. Oh, and signed a petition in support of Mexican Grey Wolf protections too.

Kris DH says that the MacKeeper tool site is a scam. ![]() So his advice is not to download it Too bad you have to re-pack all your goods once again. I'm sure you will be able to relax once you get to the new place and only unpack the bare essentials immediately. What an absolute PITA about the long wait for the hook-ups Ah...Machu Picchu...it's so startingly beautiful...like a gateway to heaven. I have a neighbor who went there on a tour. She says the hike is not for people with any issues...the air is pretty thin up there...you have to aclimatize or you could be in trouble. I would love to go there too one day ![]() |
