Hello, everybody! Kris, that is such a beautiful photo of Machu Picchu. I don't think I'll ever get there, either. Jill, thanks for the wing up about the phishing scam. Carole, I'm glad that Maya is doing so much better. Topa, I forgot to mention how much I enjoyed seeing Rachel and her friends on their outdoor vacation. Ozzie, good news that your Rachel will be home soon from her European trip. Still trying to do about an hour of walking per day so I'm glad the weather has cooled off somewhat. |

Kris, Thanks for trying to sign the petition. and for signing all the other petitions.. I just signed it for my DH on his computer and I email it out on my work email, some of my work associates emailed me back that they signed. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they changed the Camarillo Shelter to a NO KILL SHELTER! |

Penny, thank you and your DH for the warning on MacKeeper!! I'm so afraid to download anything I wouldn't have done so without trusted advice. Now I won't even consider it! Macs are usually safe from bugs and viruses, etc, so I haven't worried much, but with the Yahoo issue I started looking into "spyware" and "malware" and found it mostly addressed PC/Windows, though I've heard Macs aren't impervious. And, yes, we won't unpack much to begin with. We'll be too exhausted to, if no other reason. We didn't unpack most things here after the landlord went bad on us in the first month. Our shipping from the US didn't arrive until January and by then we feared he'd end the initial six month contract (standard here) as he'd threatened to over our reasonable request he fix the nonworking shower, so we've been living on only essentials as it is. I haven't seen most of my favorite things for almost a year.

G'day Peeps, My Wednesday, at the office, seems colder than usual. Sailing today but rain expected. I dont see a posting from Carole here today, wondering how Estelle is and Maya.... Machu Picchu. oh yes, would love to go! Clicked and voted! We have a problem with a virus here in Northern Australia. It comes from flying foxes (of which there are a lot in our back parking area in the Moreton Bay fig tree), "DOG and cat owners have been warned to keep pets away from feeding bats, after a canine in south-east Queensland tested positive for the potentially deadly Hendra virus." I bought my kitties a new climbing tower, they just love it! http://s95.photobucket.com/albums/l142/KLJinOz/Critters%202011/Cat%20Tower/?albumview=slideshow HUG FOR BETTE

Topa, I love the pow-wow photos. They are so bright and colourful. We just got an e-mail from our breeder, Jenny. She saw an eagle flying along the river this week. That's fantastic news since the eagles usually are only in southern Ontario in the winter. They return to nest in northern Ontario after the weather warms up in the spring. This has to be good news for eagles! Jenny is very upset because the woman who purchased Wynn's littermate from California, a very pretty and sweet female puppy, has returned her! She told Jenny that she didn't like her because she, "Eats her poo." She had her for I guess three months. |

Ozzie - All is well here at the moment. Mom is doing better in the hospital and the social workers together with the medical staff are trying to get her into a nursing/convalescent home. She can't go back to her senior's residence, she needs more help and private nursing care is to much $$$$$. Maya is back to her old self except for being hungry as she is on a special diet of very little food, a teaspoon full every 2 hours, which she devours in half a second. Will ask the vet tomorrow if I can add more food to her diet.I just giggled at the photos of Tigsy and Leo in their new kitty-condo, just adorable. I have also enjoyed Susan's new website and FB page. She is such a love, such a wonderful daughter. Before you know it Rachel will be home and you will get lots of hugs , I know you miss her big time.Topa - Loved the pow-wow photos Cheryl - How terrible to return a dog because of that reason. It is said that a dog that eats poop is missing an enzyme in its diet and a piece of fresh pineapple replenishes that enzyme. Don't know how true this is but it worked for my friend's dog. Kris - Your next move will be a real home, not just a house. You will be able to enjoy all your personal treasures when they are unpacked. Do it liesurely and don't get overwhelmed with all the work, one day at a time and it will all get done. The best to you and Ed and sending prayers that his health improves.

Hot Topic on Ojai Gab Fest.. They'd like me to share far and wide.. A NO KILL SHELTER IN VENTURA COUNTY - The Ventura County shelter needs to stop killing 50+ adoptable dogs each week.... CLICK ON— http://apps.facebook.com/petitions/2/a-no-kill-shelter-in-ventura-county/ Suza Francina Thank you! Please share and post far and wide. My private animal shelter is filled to capacity! Suza Francina From Kathleen MacGregor: Thousands of healthy adoptable animals are killed at the Camarillo shelter every year. There is a proven system of programs that have worked for other open intake shelters. The NO KILL platform. It addresses the inflow and the outflow problem. It requires a co-operative shelter staff. What we have is a demoralized and overworked shelter staff with an entrenched management who does not believe NO KILL is possible. We need a caring and active community and a county and city government willing to listen and take action. Matthew Read I signed but what is to be done? The major problem is overbreeding and it's no coincidence that most of the animals, in the canine catagory, are either pit bulls or chihuahuas. Brenda Mercado Suza, I have worked in ER's and really some dogs do have a switch that goes off and the owner and others do get badly injured. There should be an aggression test on these dogs before given to families. Even our dogs Cowboy, had that switch and it went off with bicycles, surfers, and runners. Suza Francina... Brenda, I totally understand. I have a dog like this in my "private shelter." Am working on a story/editorial on this. She is a beatiful Aussie dog that sits sweetly with her front paws crossed and watces my yoga classes for hours...but if she's outide and a runner or other leashed dog walks by...she scares the beejesus out of everyone...no tearing into legs so far but I cannot risk it and there was a recent horrific incident with a cat I'll descrbe in future story...gotta run...but killing her is not the answer. I curse the people who allowed her mother to breed and put her on Death Row... .Brenda Mercado... Send them to prisons where the inmates with the help of trainers can work with these dogs daily. Everyone wins. Suza Francina... The prison dog training program, from what I've seen on the tube, is one of the best programs going...win-win, like Brenda said.. Leslie Ferraro.... Brenda is right! It's happening in other states with great success. It works for the animals, it works for the inmates - and the adopting families get a trained pet! THAT'S a petition I would sign. |

Cheryl, if this person really wanted her she would have done the research to find out how to stop the dog from doing that behaviour instead of just returning her to the breeder. She was obviously not the right person to have that dog in the first place. Hopefully Jenny can find a better home for her with someone who really wants to have an energetic dog and maybe she will have her 'cured' of her bad habit by then ![]() Jenny should watch this...it will help cheer her up The Ultimate Dog Tease (1:41) Even if you've watched it before, it's still a royal hoot and it's Canadian
