![]() July 28 What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the winter time; it is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset. - Last words of Crowfoot, Blackfoot chief -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If the earth is hurtling through space at 43,000 miles an hour, what is life? Crowfoot had an answer. Life is temporary. It’s the little shadow that loses itself in the sunset. We’re just here for a little while, then we’re gone. Life is best lived that way. Herondance.org |

July 28, 2011 Three Little Stars in Budapest - Amur Tiger Cubs ![]() Visitors to Budapest Zoo in Hungary were introduced to the latest "stars" - their new Amur (or Siberian) Tiger cubs. Three little ones were born on May 10, 2011, all males, whose names are Virgil, Manu and Thrax. They went on exhibit July 7 after their first veterinary exam. Mother Niva is doing well caring for her rambunctious trio. After they wear her and themselves out, they can be seen resting together in the shade. Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden is an EAZA (and WAZA) member zoo, and the breeding of Tigers is a part of the European Tiger breeding program (tiger EEP) in the framework of the EAZA. ![]() http://www.zooborns.com/zooborns/2011/07/three-little-stars-in-budapest-amur-tiger-cubs.html |

Ed Clark, WCV: ![]() Stephen Living releases NX - the first time. Photo credit: Todd Spencer "Just FYI.... NX is missing one entire flight feather, #9, and part of another, #8, which was broken at some point yesterday, though it may well have been damaged previously as well. That means that only two--(2)--feathers are not fully functional. When we next examine her, we'll determine if there is enough left of the broken feather to "imp", or splice another feather onto the broken shaft, or if we'll just let them grow back naturally. But, all of the hysteria about the condition of her wing is just as misplaced as the concern about the impact of the transmitter. NX is fine, and will be fine." Young returned to the wild"Life as they have known it, is over. Life as they should have known it, has begun". Release Video (1:33 ) |

Dear Bette, with a bit of levity I offer you a "toast" with a Bird sidecar. (Had this whimsical bit of art in my Photobucket album but only the second time in years I've had an opportunity to use it.) (Most of my posts to you are here on the IWS forum. Ed and I are having a tough time after our move to the UK and just can't keep up on both forums. ) ![]() And here is an IP for this special occasion: a Blue Moon cocktail, that I raise in a Virtual Toast to you in the spirit of love and camaraderie of your Cruzer family. Just wish the pic were a little bit bigger. (I'm actually having a sip of wine instead, since it's already past 7:30 pm where I am and it's well into Happy Hour). ![]() And a toast to Sidney and Tiger too! |
