From my best friend's son-Jill As you no doubt have heard the SEAL community suffered a tremendous loss this past weekend. In fact it is the largest loss in the SEAL community's history. I have worked with almost all of the men who were killed in the helicopter crash, many were good friends. They were amazing men who will truly be missed. SEAL's have earned a reputation for being ruthless and fierce fighters, and while that is true, they are also some of the best and most gentle men I have ever met. Some of the best husbands, fathers, brothers and sons. I have never met more selfless people than the men in the SEAL teams. With that I ask that you consider helping the families of my fallen brothers. The Navy SEAL Foundation (http://www.navysealfoundation.org/) has an outstanding record of helping the families of deceased SEALs. Not only in the form of putting kids through college, but providing computers, school supplies and just being around to help the fatherless. If you are not able to donate I ask that you pass this information along. Each service member that is killed in either Iraq or Afghanistan is tragic, but this has been a devastating personal loss. The information for how to donate is below: To help the families of our fallen teammates donate $10 now to the Navy SEAL Foundation. Text the word SEAL to 90999 and a one-time $10 charge will be added to your wireless bill. You will receive a text asking to confirm your donation. As you pray for the families please remember to pray for the friends like Joel. Thanks. Jill Edited by jillers, Aug 8 2011, 11:46 AM.

Just got back from Montreal and had a pleasant drive home, under 5 hours, I think I was doing a bit over the speed limit but thank goodness I didn't get a ticket. Mom is stable and feeling quite a bit better. Tomorrow sister is meeting with the social worker to see what they will be doing as far as placing her in a nursing home. It's a waiting game but hopefully it will get straightened out soon. Will be back later, must unpack and hug Maya again

Here's the hot tub DS and his GF bought second-hand and installed mostly by themselves on this past hot steamy Montreal weekend....![]() I'm so proud of them because they both work 12 hour + days starting at 5:30AM at their cafeteria. They really deserve to have a relaxing time at the end of the day ![]() "The electrician is coming tonight to set up our breaker box to handle the power safely. We did it all ourselves with the help of movers to transport the tub in a truck and we hired a carpenter off Kijiji to help with making the base and taking apart / re-setting up the gazebo after transport. We made the base Friday after work, dug out the backyard, made the wood frame and then we had a dumptruck deliver 2500 lbs of rock and gravel dust. First we wheelbarrelled over 1000 lbs of heavy rock to begin filling the hole. We rented a compacter from Home Depot and added water while doing this process to create a kind of cement. After we had the base down, we added about 1500 lbs of gravel dust and then compacted again. It was extremely labor intensive but the final product looks amazing. On Saturday morning we disassembled the gazebo and moved the tub, which was a painful and long process. My body is still sore. If all goes according to plan we will be enjoying our first dip this evening D'ont forget to pack your bathing suit for the trip!!! This is the same kid who really never did any carpentry work or slave labour when he was living at home

Hi everybirdy. Bette, I hope you are having a good day. Penny, your son and his GF worked so hard on their hot-tub/spa enclosure. May it bring them many hours of relaxation, especially after their long days. Time to start the laundry. We are on time-of-use electricity now. It's half the price after 7 pm. Thank you for all your posts, everyone. Today I had a 'lifer' sighting. I was on my way to the massage college for an affordable massage. A large bird flew over the river and just over my car to land in a nest on top of a hydro pole. It was an osprey. The nest was on a platform so somebody had prepared a location for the birds. They are rare around here so it's good news for sure. |
