Hi Everyone, I'm at the library on limited time right now but wanted to check in and let you know we're still offline and will be for another couple of weeks at least! And we only moved a stone's throw from where we were! It takes soooo long to do any phone line changes, and internet is even longer. That landlord did us so much damage and has cost us so much with his mean spirited and unjustified decision to end our lease. Thank you all so much for your wishes and worries about us. We are very far from any of the unrest in the cities that has been in the news, thankfully. It's kind of like the difference between East LA and La Conchita, for those Westies who know SoCal. We're in a small rural village no where near any of the rioting, but we're far from "Home Free" with the move. The place we moved to has problems that we're trying to sort out. It is a cute little secluded house with a lovely garden, and very peaceful in general, BUT it's an older house and the previous tenant left it in not such a good state. The landlords are already not living up to agreements and conditions, and after the Hell the previous landlord has put us through for NO REASON we're already worried about how it will go. There are NO other places available and if Ed's Green Card hadn't just expired we might be trying to figure out a way to get back to the US. If we'd only had a crystal ball.... I'm so sorry I've not been able to get here to keep up, or to Toast Bette with you all. I sure miss you, and the reassuring feeling of being able to connect and reach out to the dear friends here. I probably won't be able to respond or to check in much until we get back online. I did manage to get the Wiltshire library system to unblock access to this forum though! For some stupid reason their filtering system had access blocked as if it were a "dodgy" website, so now I can at least log on when possible. I could get to the CHIL forum but not this one until just yesterday, so I tried to catch up a bit but ran out of time on the computer before I could post anything, and am running out of time right now, so forgive any typos and the lack of graphics.Bette I've been keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, even if I haven't been able to say so. See you when I can manage it. |

Hi Circle. I thought if you married someone from out of the country they would automatically become a US citizen? I'm so sorry things haven't worked out as you planned. Your new cottage sounds very romantic and lovely. I hope for you and Ed that things change for the better soon. Thanks for giving us an update. Thinking of you and Ed always.

So great to hear from you Kris ![]() Glad you are not anywhere near all that mess in the bigger cities. I think Topa may be right about the marriage thing. Maybe your DD can check that out for you if things don't work out in your new country cottage I can't wait for some

Topa I am just fuming this morning because another young bear was killed needlessly at one of our Provincial parks AGAIN !!! Three weeks ago it was a sow bear with 3 cubs who were all killed because they wandered too close to the beach areas.![]() CBC photo of Grand Beach, Lake Winnipeg, Manitoba which is considered one of the seven wonders of Canada. According to a Provincial spokesperson: "There was a bear in the dunes at the West Beach at Grand Beach. Due to the number of people in the area and concerns about safety, RCMP officers were called and put down the bear. This is the usual protocol followed when a bear is in a heavily populated area to ensure the safety of the public." A really stupid woman who was trying to 'herd' the panicked young bear with her car was the cause of its' death. I left a comment. Bear Killed near Grand Beach |

Hello, everyone! Hi Kris! I will have to return to comment on everything. The dogs want to go out - of course just after I copied the photo codes. Anyway, here they are. From my field guide "Butterflies of Southern Ontario" this visitor to our coneflowers seems to be a Giant Swallowtail ..... info says that it is "rare". I will have to do some more research. DH took the photos.![]() ![]() Thinking of you, Bette!

ARTSY! Suza and Sue Williamson set a blog page up on the Ojai Valley News online link. Even in Ojai that is surrounded by National Forest you'd be surprised how many people are either uneducated or don't give a care about bears and wildlife. You wouldn't believe the comments. Shocking!!! I posted a link to this Defenders of Wildlife page on the OVN blog. http://www.defenders.org/wildlife_and_habitat/wildlife/black_bear.php and copied and pasted this. " Because there is a common misconception among people that black bears are vicious, increasing numbers of bears are being killed as more people move into bear habitat and have interactions with them." |
