December 5 update
9:31 a.m.: NX has not been taken out yet for treatments; the veterinary team has her scheduled for another set of radiographs today. They’d like to ensure that her positioning for the radiographs will give them the best view of what is going on with her injured shoulder. Because NX will be anesthetized, she was fasted last night.

In addition to the radiographs, Dr. Adam and team will clean NX’s wounds and will give her anti-inflammatories and antibiotics.

<::: UPDATE ON NX FROM CAM CHAT....

Amanda Nicholson, WCV: Website update:

Change of plans: initially, NX was scheduled for radiographs today to see if a different set of x-rays would reveal the same subtle shoulder fracture that Dr. Dave noted on December 3. After removing NX from her small indoor enclosure for morning treatments, the veterinary team decided to wait until later in the week to perform the radiographs. Since her shoulder is still slightly swollen, Dr. Dave anticipates that a few more days of healing will really enable the team to make a better assessment of the injury.

NX was bright, alert, and feisty when the team cleaned her wounds and administered her medications during morning treatments.

Posted Image Thoughts on Christmas Giving Posted Image

As the holidays approach, the giant overseas factories have kicked into high gear to provide us with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods -- merchandise that has been produced at the expense of cheap/slave labour.

It's time to think outside the box. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in mass produced wrapping paper from abroad?

Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local hair salon or barber?

Gym membership? It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.

Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car valeted? Owner operated car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates.

Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of putting down the cash on an overseas made flat-screen? Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway fixed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or roof waterproofed and painted.

There are a Gazillion owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift certificates. And, if your intended isn't the fancy eatery sort, what about a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint. Remember, this isn't about big National chains -- this is about supporting your home town businesses with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.

How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by a local working guy?

Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day.

My computer could do with an upgrade, and I KNOW I can find some young techie guy who is struggling to get his repair business up and running.

OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people are great. They make jewelery, pottery, knitted stuff, Teddy Bears, paintings and home preserves etc.

Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theatre.

Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.

Honestly, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand mass produced overseas lights for the house? If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.

You see, Christmas is no longer about draining pockets so that foreign countries can build another glittering city. Christmas is now about caring about us, encouraging small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about others, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine.

Thanks Carole, They are really growing up fast. Tzvi is 8.
I thought back in August on my last trip to Israel it would be nice to
visit them again in December. Well, I booked tickets for Israel
about a month ago, but didn't want to say anything yet on the
forum, as to not jinx the trip. Snow and who know's what could happen
from then and Dec. 27. ;)
I'm flying alone, staying with them in their apartment.
I'm starting to get really excited. Stacy emailed this morning she is
telling the yelideems(children) this week.
So the plans are flying out Dec. 27 and returning Jan 5.
Zoom Zoom. :<<o>>:
