Artsy, No, I'm serious. The price of flying El Al airlines non stop was too expensive so I will be flying Continential Airlines to Newark New Jersey, then off to Tel Aviv. I'm sure flying over the holidays made the prices go up, but I have to fly those dates. Stacy want's to go to a very close friends wedding so I was asked to fly in to help Daniel with the kiddos. I'm the baby sitter. I overlapped the end of the trip so I could have a few days with Stacy before flying home. Crazy, I know.. But I like your El Al Airline post...

I thought this was tasty. DH did not! One of the gals at Home group brought it Thur. night for dessert- For the sugar cookie crust: 2 3/4 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla extract For the filling: 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened (I used reduced fat) 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 1 tbsp ground coffee or espresso 2 tsp vanilla extract 2 eggs 1 cup dark chocolate chips For the topping: 6 ounces cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup whipping cream Shredded chocolate for decoration, if desired To make the sugar cookie crust, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray the bottom and sides of a n 8×12″ pan with cooking spray. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and egg. Add in the vanilla extract. Gradually add in the dry ingredients until well-combined. Press half of the dough into the pan and bake 15-18 minutes or until light golden brown. Let cool. (You don’t need the other half of the dough for this recipe, but that’s okay – just make sugar cookies! Roll the dough into 1″ balls and then either freeze them for baking later, or bake 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees.) To make the filling, in a medium mixing bowl, beat the two packages of cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth. Add in the milk and beat until well-blended. Then, beat in the coffee, vanilla, and eggs. Stir in chocolate chips and pour over the sugar cookie crust. Bake 35-40 minutes or until the edges are set (and the center is mostly set, but not completely). Cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, and then refrigerate another 30 minutes to cool completely. To make the topping, in a small bowl, beat the whipping cream until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in the 6 ounces of cream cheese until fluffy. Spread the topping over the cooled bars and sprinkle with the shredded chocolate. Refrigerate about 2 hours or until chilled before cutting into bars. Store covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve. |

UPDATE ON RTH AT WCV December 5 update Another set of radiographs was taken today of Red-tailed Hawk #11-2361; no major changes were noted. However, Center vets are carefully studying the digital image of the head of the humerus on the bird’s left wing. There may be subtle changes there — where the head of the humerus is touching the scapula. This could simply be the position of the hawk for the radiograph, or it might be a cause for the hawk’s intermittent wing droop. The hawk is scheduled for another set of x-rays in two weeks — on December 19. If there is an issue with the bird’s shoulder, the veterinarians will likely see radiographic changes then. In the meantime, the hawk will continue to be exercised and carefully monitored.

Topa, how exciting to be able to see the grandkids one more time this year! I, too, loved the photos that you posted the other day - forgot to comment at the time. It's always a pleasure to see them. - terrific photo of the lion, Kath. At least he has lots of fur to keep him warm. We've had a lot of rain here.

A view of your America that many of you haven't seen before I found very few smiles on the worn faces. 1939-1943 photos. Photos from the days when we were very young. Some of you were not even born yet. We sometimes forget how far the USA has come in 70 years. Something you may wish to share with your children & grand-children. Yes indeed, what it looked like when most of us were just a few years old. The pictures are so clear and the color is so vibrant, it looks as though they were taken just yesterday. http://extras.denverpost.com/archive/captured.asp |
