What a lovely photo, CONGRATULATIONS KAREN & JIM! for a WC Fly Day today. Cheryl, I just love your description of your new bedroom and the doggets behaviour! Deb, the RC Christmas Tree is JUST BEAUTIFUL! In memory of Erik, never forgotten. I just love the Dion poem (I cant say I care for her singing tho, sorry).Water cat!!! Here it is my Saturday evening after a long, busy enjoyable FINALLY SUMMER day. I was pretty busy today, Rachel went with me to the zoo, we were only there to see the cubs and I am NEVER going at opening time again, half the animals had not been released into their enclosures! I then went to City side with Anna to an Art Exhibit, but it wasnt all that good. They did have some really interesting diorama's, then some lunch at home with Anna and Rachel. Then Rachel & I went to the gym. Also managed to fit in a load of laundry, vacuuming, reading the paper (ok, only part of it) and combing the the cats Hey Kris, maybe a visit to Edinburg is in order... ![]() Good morning, everybirdy! Whooper Update: Date: December 17th, 2011 Reporter: Liz Condie Subject: MIGRATION DAY 70 - DOWN DAY 6 Location: Franklin County, AL Due to an equipment issue, the cranes, planes, and OM team will be unable to advance today. Speaking of progress, or lack thereof, a comparison to previous years reveals that on this date in 2010 we were already in Gilchrist County Florida. However, in both 2008 and 2009, the only other years we've flown this more westerly route, we've been right here in Franklin County on December 17. |

Carole, I saw that on the news about the female tiger. The zookeepers must be devastated. I wonder if they just weren't very attached and well-adjusted to each other even though everything seemed safe with their gradual introduction method.Ozzie, your tiger photos are gorgeous. I like the way you have a soft touch to them. My favourite is definitely photo # 2. I think that one is calendar worthy. Mama tiger at the end really does have a very protective look to her. My goodness, you really had a busy (but fun) day. Nice to be able to spend some time with Rachel and your friend. Celine can be a shrieker at times, that's for sure. The furniture arrives sometime in the next few hours. I asked and they do put slippers on their feet (the delivery people) to protect the new carpet. Since we have snow outside I will be checking to make sure they do that.Robert said that Wynn's back foot got cold during their long walk this morning. He's going to change their longer walk time to later in the day when it is warmer.

Windy day today video ![]() December 17 Benedicto: May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your rivers flow without end, meandering through pastoral valleys tinkling with bells, past temples and castles and poets’ towers into a dark primeval forest where tigers belch and monkeys howl, through miasmal and mysterious swamps and down into a desert of red rock. blue mesas, domes and pinnacles and grottos of endless stone, and down again into a deep vast ancient unknown chasm where bars of sunlight blaze on profiled cliffs, where storms come and go as lightning clangs upon the high crags, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you – beyond that next turning of the canyon walls. - Edward Abbey from the preface to Desert Solitairey |

Glad you new bossies are sweet. Love all the Craniac OM updates. Kris. I enjoyed everyones post's from yesterday. I've been a little off the grid the last couple of days. Medical Update on Buddy ![]() December 14, 2011 On Monday, December 12, the Kjellstrom & Lee construction crew needed to get into Buddy’s enclosure to replace a pipe in Buddy’s swimming pool. Since Buddy needed to vacate the enclosure for the crew to get work done, the veterinary staff decided that they may as well get a bit of “work” done on Buddy himself at the same time and brought him down to the clinic. Dr. Dave coped Buddy – a bit early, but preferable to having to catch the eagle up again in two weeks’ time. Dr. Dave dremmeled Buddy’s beak and shaved off two to three millimeters off of the lower beak, and one to two millimeters off of the top of the beak. The next dremmel session is scheduled for late January 2012. Center vets also gave Buddy his annual physical exam, which included blood work and a series of radiographs. Buddy appears to be in good health, and the vet staff found no significant findings on in-house blood work or radiographs. When Dr. Miranda performed an eye exam on Buddy, she did find something unusual – in both of his eyes, there are rounded, fluid-filled areas within the pecten. The pecten is the “nourishing” part of a bird’s eye, and is not responsible for sight. These type of cysts on a bird’s pecten could be congenital, the results of an infection, or just “idiopathic” – meaning it just happens, and we don’t know why! In Buddy’s case, the veterinarians could easily rule out a congenital cause – Buddy’s eyes are examined every year, and these cysts were not present before. The team could also rule out infection, as there are no other parts of Buddy’s eyes that look abnormal, and all blood work is within normal limits. That just means that we’re not quite sure why his eyes look like this – but there’s no cause for concern. The vets will check Buddy’s eyes again in six months. Buddy will actually be staying in his “old house” for a couple of days while the work in his eagle palace continues. |
