Oh, I hope the Sequoyah nest doesn't have a problem with snow and that it prospers. This year here seems milder than the last, which was my first here, and we're looking at a non-white Christmas according to the forecasts. Not really a problem for me who remembers and longs for 80 degree Christmases in California. I live on my plans to visit California in the Spring. Meanwhile the Holidays are difficult, especially for me being so far from my DD, and we're trying to get through them as best we can. My Swedish grandparents always had this little candle fueled Angel decoration on the Christmas table. I miss the traditional family gathering and Smorgasboard feast but at least I don't miss the obligatory seasonal Lute Fisk! But I do miss Farmor's wonderful Spritz cookies! Karen - I also have a tiny floater in my right eye. The doctor said to live with it and consider it a "new friend" I am so used to it now after several years that I hardly ever see it. Sometimes when I am tired and watching TV in bed, it becomes visible but I blink my eyes and it disappears. What bothers me more now that I am way over 50, is I find my eyes itchy as they are dry. Doctor gave me drops but I keep forgetting to use them, better be a good girl and start with them again. I think it is more prevalent in the winter with the heat on in the house. We do have a humidifier on the furnace but it's for the birds

Carole I'm also plagued with "floaters". If I pay attention to them on a white background the small little ones are all over my vision! The best herbal remedy for them that I know of is the herb Eyebright, which I use to combat them (tea or capsule form), also plenty of vitamin A. Eye excercises are also recommended to minimize their effects. Like Bette Davis said: "Getting old is not for sissies."

G'day Peeps, my Tuesday, Rain, sometimes heavily. Where is our summer?! The El Nina has really brought a rainy cool summer. It also means somewhere else it the world its dry and I just read that the European River systems are becoming quite dry. We have a river tour scheduled for Jun/Jul 2012 and wondering if there will be any water! Terrific nest captures and I just love Clydesdales too. Budweiser is very clever with their marketing of them. My father used to drink Bud, he said it made him wiser (His name was Bud). da-boom. (rasberry) Winston looks like a lover, lap dog! Better safe than sorry with the WC flights. I was watching a nature program last night late, they were talking about their demise. I hope in the years ahead they can recover sufficiently. I too have several floaters and have had them for years. My Eye Doc said 'its just debris in your eye'. ewwww Like my ear tinnitus, I dont notice it unless someone mentions it! Caught up with my friend Amy last night after work. She looks terrific, looks like she has lost weight because of the tummy tuck and breast reconstruction after her mastectomy. She said she is really tired though, even tho work is still just over half mast for her and she can drive herself into the City with designated parking due to her surgery, so no over an hour bus trip in. She said she is really stressed out because her daughter Alice is working for someone who is flogging the Award wage and conditions. Alice is working 10 hours a day, 7 days a week for $100 a day! Amy's son Seb is in here for the holidays and has stepped in to deal with the situation (being an Army Major helps!). I told Rachel about the job, she needs to work! We saw the Ides of March. Slow but interesting about the US political wheeling-dealings during campaigning. I'm not sure Paul Giamatti was up to the lead role, seemed too young for the part. Philip S. Hoffman was good as a spin-off guy as was George (the politician). 2 more days before my Bob gets home. He had to change hotels, the one he was staying at had a conference going on and the guests were partying all night long keeping him awake... |

Latest news on NX..... December 19 update NX weighed in at 3.96 kg on December 18. She continues to eat well and yes — continues to be feisty as well! Treatment of her right carpal wound continues. Another set of radiographs are scheduled for December 20. In other news, NX’s rescuer, Officer Kevin Keeve, came to the Wildlife Center on December 19! Officer Keeve received a tour and was able to meet Buddy and see a few other “behind the scenes” things. Officer Keeve with NX’s infamous “raptor wrapper”:

Latest news on Buddy..... December 19 update With continued construction at the Wildlife Center, including trenching and digging to lay conduit and cable for the Center’s web cam network, the Kjellstrom & Lee construction crew have also been fine-tuning the area in front of Buddy’s new enclosure. While the main goal of the re-grading the area was to control the flooding and erosion from heavy rains — the Kjellstrom & Lee construction crew went the extra mile (or two) to make Buddy’s pen a truly special area! ![]()

Ozzie your neighbors Christmas bush is a glorious plant. Hope you get back to some warmer rainfree days soon. I'm sure there will be water in the rivers when you go on your tour Too bad about the rowdy hotel guests Usually that gets handled by the hotel so the partyers won't disturb the other guests

AM LATE CHECKING IN AND CATCHING UP ON POSTS MADE MYSELF FINISH WRITING THE CHRISTMAS CARDS. AND NOT FEELING MUCH IN THE MOOD! AFTER MIDNIGHT HERE. KARENSC - CAROLE - KRIS - KLJINOZ - JUST A TIP FROM A SENIOR CITIZEN I USED TO HAVE SOME FLOATERS. I BELIEVE IN NATURAL HERBS ETC. HAVE BEEN TAKING FOR QUITE A WHILE " HERBAL VISION" IT IS A COMBINATION OF LUETIN AND BILBERRY. PROBABLY KRIS WOULD KNOW THAT IN ENGLAND THE RAF PILOTS ATE BILBERRY JAM BEFORE THEY DID NIGHT MISSIONS IN WWII (HELPS WITH NIGHT VISION) AND LEUTIN HELPS WITH THE MACULAR. ANY WAY AT 78 I HAVE NO FLOATERS AND CAN STILL SEE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT, AND DIDN'T CHANGE MY EYE GLASSES FOR 10 YEARS. JUST FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH. I GET THE HERBAL VISION FROM A GOOD VITMIN PLACE CALLED "PURITAN PRIDE" WHICH MANUFACTURES THERE OWN VITAMINS. HA! THAT'S MY SPEECH FOR THE DAY! CAROLE - GREAT GRAPHIC. ! HOPE THE SEQUOAHS MAKE IT! PENNY - SNOW MAKES ME SHIVER! CHERYL - PRETTY GRAPHIC! WINSTO'S QUITE A DOG! SO SAD ABOUT THE WHOOPERS! TOPA - INTERESTING RENDERING OF THE SUGAR PLUM FAIRY! CUTE LITTLE BLONDIE! INTERESTING BUDWEIZER KRIS - NICE MEMORIES IN THE CANDLE ANGEL KLJINOZ -HOPE IT WARMS UP FOR YOU THERE. BEAUTIFUL FLOWERING BUSH! DEB - HOPE EVERYTHING FALLS INTO PLACE FOR YOU AND YOU GET A "BREATHER" AND ENJOY YOUR CHRISTMAS VISIT! |
