click on the above photo to see a few photos from our camping trip this past weekend! the scouts worked on orienteering - using a campus to find markers around camp - they also learned how to estimate the height of a tree or estimate distances by using a simple technique! they thought that was quite fun.......

a little warmer this AM - trying to rain ....
time to get ready for work

I will try hard to check back later - I'm way ready to get back to a more normal day schedule....... hoping things begin to settle at new office :)

may everyone have a great day - not to stressful - all feeling well and hugs if you need 'em

Deb - Happy you checked in with us. :Hugs: You are such a busy bee, I get exhausted hearing about all the things you are doing. Hopefully you will have some down time when the office is closed for the holidays :X: .

Nice slideshow, such a pretty area. The smiles on your scouts faces show what a great time they had, leaders too :P

Good morning, everybody.

Whooper Update: Today will be a Down Day because of strong winds coming from the south both aloft and on the ground. The team will be watching the weather maps to see if there is the possibility of a flight in the next few days. If not, some of them will try to get home to see their loved ones for the holidays. For example, Joe Duff has a young daughter who must be missing him.

Cheryl - Thanks for WC Update. I wish the weather would cooperate :X: but do hope some of the crew will be able to spend some well deserved holiday time with their families.

Deb, there were so many activities and learning skills squeezed into a fun-filled couple of days. The hiking trails looked so picturesque.

I agree, it will be so nice for you to get back to a regular routine at work - much more calm and easier on your health, too.

Carole, well done on the screen cap with the egg! Where exactly is the Sequoyah cam? Is it in Florida or one of the warmer states? I hope so.

Today is wrapping day. Robert is going to help. It will be interesting with two curious pups in the way.

Yesterday I went out to my car to run a few errands and I had a totally flat tire. I used my CAA membership again (battery went awhile ago) so that Robert wouldn't have to change the tire. Might as well. There's a nail in the tire so Robert is out getting prices on a pair of new tires. I think the originals were still on there since I never go anywhere and my school was only 5 minutes away.

Last night I made shortbread cookies using my grandmother's hand-written recipe. I liked being able to see her writing.

Cheryl - Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge near Vian, Oklahoma. Unfortunately they do get snow and sometimes lots of it. They managed to raise 2 beautiful eaglets last year despite the weather.

Hanukkah from around the world (1:53)

Outside, snow is slowly, softly
Falling through the wintry night.
In the house, the brass menorah
Sparkles with the candlelight.

Children in a circle listen
To the wondrous stories told,
Of the daring Maccabeans
And the miracles of old.

In the kitchen, pancakes sizzle,
Turning brown, they'll soon be done.
Gifts are waiting to be opened,
Happy Hanukkah's begun
