Twas that Eve before Yuletide![]() ‘Twas the eve before Yuletide And to Santa’s dismay Came a blizzard of such fury Reindeer couldn’t lift his sleigh. As the elves paced and worried And Santa’s face grew a scowl Came a song from the woods: A wolf pack’s mighty howl. From the thick of the storm O’er deep snow on big padded feet Came eight silvery wolves Ice and wind could not beat. Santa’s mouth hung open for a blink As the wolves lined up in front of his sleigh Then he sputtered an order to the elves “Well then… let’s be on our way!” Santa met and thanked each wolf As the elves finished loading the last gift Then he sprinkled them with fairy dust Chuckling, “That’ll give you the lift.” “They won’t believe this in Wyoming..” He laughed, a merry twinkle in his eyes Then the elves harnessed the wolves And they took to the skies. On Lightfoot! On Blacktail! On Windswift! On Howler! On GreenEyes! On MoonSong! On Hunter! On Prowler! The wolves’ eyes glowed as they leapt through the storm Santa wished his own coat could keep him as warm. That night the wolves even taught Santa to howl An ancient song filled with hope for Peace and Joy That this season may bring for all Life on Earth As they left special gifts for each girl and boy. ‘Twas that eve before Yuletide Santa will always fondly remember When wolves rescued his mission That stormy December. |

![]() Wishing you all the most joyous of Holy Day Holidays on this Christmas Eve. I went on a delightful segue from the isolation of a Christmas so far from home, and found and saved many of these wonderful Scandanavian Gnome illustrations. Cheryl, your Moose and Santa streaming rainbow Christmas images was a perfect addition. This Santa and Moose with sled is by a female artist named Eva Melhuish I discovered in my searching. I may have to come back and post another of her whimsical images.

![]() This image is a stunning visualization from an art exhibit of a few years ago, that I'll include the following description of to fully appreciate what it represents. It's a timely and astonishingly symmetrical representation of the chapters in The Bible and how they relate to each other. "This image, "Visualizing the Bible", was created by Chris Harrison of Carnegie Mellon University and Christoph Römhild of North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church and was awarded an Honorable Mention in Illustration in the International Science and Engineering Visualisation Challenge. The lower part depicts all 1189 chapters of the Bible as a bar graph; the length of each bar is proportional to the number of verses in the corresponding chapter. The coloured arcs in the upper part represent 63,779 cross references between chapters, with different colours denoting varying distances between connected chapters." |

WOW Kris that image is quite incredible. Thanks for sharing the information too ![]() I really am enjoying all the Scandinavian Gnomes, especially since I have a Danish uncle who appreciates them too They are so whimsical and evocative of an innocence that seems so lacking in today's world.

![]() Another Eva Melhuish illustration that could be seen as a weary Santa and his companion taking in the blessed night after his job was done. Last year I listened to countless renditions of "O Holy Night" on Youtube, including Enrico Caruso's hundred year old Italian version, but then I happened upon this one by David Phelps, who I'd never heard of but who is apparently a well known spiritual motivational performer. (I think I also posted this link last year when I first found it.) I love the Johnny Matthis version as you posted Penny, and so many of the other classic versions of this song, but this rendition is exceptionally moving and blood pressure raising! Some even call it the "best male vocal" of the song ever. And if there's a night for this one then this is it. Since we're so many hours ahead of most of you here in the UK, our evening is waning and there's still dinner to attend to, so I bid you all a good night and blessed dreams. |

Kris I do remember you posted this before. He truly is a gifted singer. I followed the links to this better quality sound version of the same video which was reposted by the same person. It does start with a story though. I do think that if he had dressed for the occasion it would have been a nice gesture on his part...petty... I know, but it would have been more moving experience to watch for me May you have Peace in your heart as you celebrate. to both of you and

Penny I can understand what you mean about his "dressing" for the performance, but to me it seemed like he was maybe trying to humble his own persona to accentuate the message of the song. I looked at the other link and chose to avoid the added proselytizing in the "better quality" version. Thank you for your wishes. Can't say it's a joyous Holiday for us, all things considered, but we're doing our best.
