Good find on the wolf and raven graphic, Penny. :)^

Around here we only see cardinals gathered together in large groups when it is snowing a lot. Normally they are quite solitary or just hang around with their mate. Thanks for posting it here, Carole.

We had an interesting dog walk at 4:30. Partway around the neighbourhood we were approached by a loose but friendly husky. She was dragging about 5 feet of tie-out wire (the kind with the plastic coating). We knew which household owned a husky, but where was the owner? Robert kept walking with Wynn and Mia in order to keep the dogs separated because ours were going crazy. I picked up the red wire and talked to the dog. Nobody came running or anything after waiting for about 5 minutes so I decided to start walking. The dog was so friendly, looking for pats when I talked to her and even lying down for a belly rub. At first I had been a bit afraid but still felt that I should try to look after her. By that time Robert had made it home and had seen several cars driving around looking like they were searching for a dog. He recognized the dog's owner in one of the cars, waved at him to ask if he was looking for his dog, and told him I had the dog down around the bend somewhere. Eventually the owner must have parked his car because there he was running down the middle of the road. The dog knew her owner, that's for sure. The man thought that the wire must have snapped in the cold. Huskies love to be outside so they put her out in the yard sometimes. Robert knows the man because he jogs with the husky when Robert is out walking our dogs.

Ozzie, good idea to take it easy until your energy recharges. <3 hobbit land and the crystal clear lake <3

Enjoy your evening, Sunny, whatever you are up to!

The husky's owner just rang the doorbell with a lovely bottle of red wine as a thank you. They had been looking for their dog for an hour and a half. It's a wonder that the long wire hadn't been tangled and caught in the woods, since some folks had told them they had seen the dog head in there. I didn't want to take the wine but she said it would make her feel better if we did. She was near tears and so grateful. I'm so glad their dog is ok and we were in the right place at the right time.

Ozzie, no, silly me, I never learned the dog's name. I saw your question after she had been here or I would have asked.

Cheryl your table is so festive looking. Did everyone wear the hats in their Christmas crackers? Nice centerpiece too :D I bet it was beautiful when you lit the candle.

I am so glad you were able to return the dog to her owners. They must have been just frantic trying to find her. Lucky dog and lucky owners.

Ozzie sorry you are still having a rainy summer. Our weather has been just so different so far this winter and I'm not complaining but I'm sure we will get hit with a massive :flk: :flk: in January. According to our forecasters it will be nice until New Years :D

Did you hear about the alligator named Elvis who attacked a noisy lawnmower in a Sydney Zoo? He lost two teeth :o but no worries...he's got lots more rofl

Nice Holiday table Cheryl! We wore our cracker hats....

Oh yeah Penny! Elvis was on the news big time here.... at the Australian Reptile Park, north of Sydney.

Speaking of reptiles, I had lunch today with Rex who tells me he has a PYTHON living in the roof of his place! No, I wont let him look after the cats there..... :8O:

And this in today's news...

Lily the Black Bear - Update December 28, 2011

Honey and Lucky

Posted Image

Short update tonight. Donna Andrews checked both Honey and Lucky while they were out of their den Monday. She found no wounds on either of them. They both look fine. For all the noise and dust-raising of their encounter Saturday, it seems it was mostly just that—noise and dust-raising. They are an ‘odd couple’ for sure! We wonder if their relationship will change as the winter progresses.

Thank you for all you do.

Ozzie - Glad you had the chance to chill out and stay at home, the holidays can really tire you out. A python living in Rex's roof :8O: keep your cats far away from his place.

Cheryl
- What a nice dog rescue story, so happy for the owners and of course the dog. Kudos to you and Robert :><:
Your holiday table is so pretty, love all the accessories and the tablecloth is so festive and colourful.

Penny - Elvis :8O: "What Big Teeth you Had" :P
