Hi Peeps ![]() Well it is an unprecedented New Years Eve as far as weather goes for us. Currently -2C/28F heading to -1C/31F with the possibility of more light ![]() For the first time in about 20+ years we are going out for New Years Eve. First to Tony Roma's with 6 friends for dinner (DH is eating salad ) and then to a wedding social. Should be a lot of fun and if we decide to leave early, we'll come home to watch the ball drop in NYC

![]() Wishing you All a Happy and prosperous New Year! 2012 is the Year of the Dragon in Chinese astrology, in addition to being the "end" of the Mayan Calendar on the Winter Solstice in little less than a year. Doom mongers have been waiting for this for years! Should be an interesting year... ![]() And for no compelling reason other than I've been listening to the awesome Patti Smith on Youtube today and have been appreciating what an amazing icon she is, and that this is a song about "night", and tonight is an extraordinary night, I wanted to share it. She won the National Book Award with her incredible best selling book "Just Kids", about her early days as an artist and her friendship with Robert Maplethorpe. She's about 60 in this video, has the most expressive voice and face, is honestly lacking in artifice or vanity, and in my book is a true living Goddess. Patti Smith - Because the Night Notice her sweet smile at the end of the song. Should add that the Chinese New Year begins on January 23. Edited by circlescribe, Dec 31 2011, 10:59 AM.

![]() Good "Last Day of 2011" Mornin' Peeps..... As usual, the graphics are amazing!!! Carole, Penny, Cheryl and Deb.....I just eat them up with my eyes!!! Carole, Thank You for the eagle updates....Sequoia has triplets?!?! WooooHooooo!!! Penny, your night out for dinner sounds lovely....but dang girl, it's COLD in your neck of the woods!!! Cheryl, I'm hoping that Ian and Allison make that decision and announce their engagement. I LOVE weddings.....tee hee. We rarely go out on New Years Eve anymore. Every once in awhile, we'll go to a house party.....but if we do go out, I like going out to eat at a fancy pants restaurant. I LOVE great cuisine. Not this year though.....we're going to my Aunt and Uncle's house this afternoon for a nice visit, but intend to be home all evening. Around here, nine times outta ten, it's foggy on New Year's Eve....and this year is no exception. Sooooo, the plan is to be back home by early evening and avoid the fog. Right now, it's lifted, but by late afternoon, it'll slowly descend once again and there will be miserable driving conditions.....Yuck. Deb, holey smackerdoodles, your neighbor is draining half the power grid with that display!!! I'm so sorry that your DB is having to go through a nasty divorce. I agree with Carole and Cheryl....it sounds like your sil has some issues that she needs to work through, and seeking counsuling would definitely help her. I love the red roses you got from ES.....I am such a sucker for fleurs. Kris, what an amazing graphic you posted....I've been hearing dooms day predictions as the end of the Mayan Calendar rolls around.....I agree, it should be an interesting year. I loved the Patti Smith - Because the Night......I loved the simplicity of the acoustical arrangement, which makes you focus more on just her voice....which is great!!! Thank You for sharing that video with us....and of course, I had to explore the other videos of her. |

Well, we are home Was very hard leaving the kiddos but we had a great time while it lasted. Did not sleep much as I never sleep well in hotels. We left Cali at about 8 am and arrived in Surprise, AZ at about 2. Made 2 stops on the way, one to use restrooms and one for lunch and gas. Stopped at hotel and checked in first so we wouldn't have to worry about rushing over there before losing our room and could spend the rest of the day with the family. The grandkids were very surprised to see us and very excited We did our Christmas almost right away as I couldn't wait...I am worse than the kids that way Took over an hr. to open the gifts that we brought. Yeah, I always go overboard and then there were presents from my sis and mom as well. We took the kids and Linds to the zoo the next day (David had to work) and they had a blast. Went to dinner at Red Robin then home for a movie. Wed. we took them to the park to play for a bit then drove down to Mesa to see a friend of Jim's that moved there about 15 yrs. ago. That night we had dinner at Macayo's Mexican Restaurant. Then Thurs we got there early, had breakfast, hung out and then was time to come home The kiddos have gotten so big and Bubba talks more now but still not as well as I think he should be. He won't say "gramma" as he is stubborn just like his mama I took over 400 pics but I am not posting all of them I broked the slideshows down into the days ...one is driving there and opening gifts, the next is the zoo, and the next is the park and Mesa and on the way home. Trip over and opening gifts http://s288.photobucket.com/albums/ll180/KareninSoCali/Trip%20to%20AZ%20Dec%202011/?albumview=slideshow Wildlife World Zoo http://s288.photobucket.com/albums/ll180/KareninSoCali/Trip%20to%20AZ%20Dec%202011%20%20Wildlife%20World%20Zoo/?albumview=slideshow Day at the park and driving to Mesa, AZ http://s288.photobucket.com/albums/ll180/KareninSoCali/Trip%20to%20AZ%202011%20Park%20and%20Trip%20to%20Mesa/?albumview=slideshow |

Still not caught up on here but loved the graphics and pics today Great update on the lead poisoned eagle and on NX. Her feistiness will hopefully help her heal well. Deb...so sorry to hear about your DBs divorce. Nope, never easy. Will pray she gets the help she needs. Good screen caps of Decorah eagles! We are not going anywhere for New Year's Eve. We always stay home and play board games and eat until the New Year ball drops then toast and go to bed. But its fun for us. The only day I can get Jim to play board games. Well, 2011 is not ending on a very good note. The girl who house sat and Lily sat lost her stepfather to cancer on Thurs. Really strange thing is he had slipped into a coma Wed. night for a few hrs. then suddenly woke up, got out of bed like he was going to go to work and it took them 2 hrs. to get him to settle back into bed! Then he passed away Thurs. Then yesterday morning, my niece-in-law's mother passed away, also to cancer. She had been fighting for 20 yrs. Started out with breast cancer, was in remission for many yrs. then it came back with a vengeance, matastisized to her lungs and collarbone. Had to put her in the hospital on Wed., in a medically induced coma, then the next day they brought her out in order for the family to say their goodbyes and she was gone by Fri. am. I certainly hope 2012 is better for those families! |
