Penny & Cheryl - I am directing this post to you as both of you are familiar with The Bay. (a Canadian department store chain) Never again will I shop there and the only reason I was there yesterday was to use a gift certificate that I got for my birthday in July. They don't know what the word "Service" is. They don't have enough staff, the two that were there were rude and frustrated because of all the complaints, and one person behind the cash was taking returns, doing the billings and trying to help customers. This was in the shoe department where I bought a pair of boots. When I finally got her to get me the mate to the boot that was on display, it took her 15 minutes. I don't like shopping to begin with but this was such a frustrating experience. Then I went to LuLu Lemon (another gift certificate) and was helped by 3 people Fabulous service, lots of help in getting the correct size, and a cashier that said Happy New Year and was so courteous. Obviously the staff is so well trained and that is why they are doing so well.I'm a small store shopper except in Florida where the major chains have great sales people and they even remembered Alan and myself from year to year. They more or less knew what I liked and they brought things to the changeroom for me to try on. Now, that's shopping! I picked out several articles of clothing and was ready to pay for them and the cashier said she would hold them for me as they would be on sale at 30% off the following day. I returned the following day and everything was ready to be picked up, such good service and with a smile too

Cheryl thanks for the updated information from OM. How maddening that a 'former' employee coud be so vindictive ![]() Did the Vet give you a plastic hood to keep on Mia so she wouldn't be able to reach her wound to lick it? Neither my Schnauzer Mandy or Siobhan even bothered to try to lick their incisions If you don't have one and she is licking it, you should get one from your Vet. |

Penny - You just made me remember that Maya was given a plastic cone but I only left it on her when I had to go out for a short time. Otherwise I just kept an eye on her but she never tried to lick the incision. |

ANOTHER CASE OF LEAD POISONING Lead Positive: Page County Red-tailed Hawk PATIENT: Red-tailed Hawk, #12-0003 LOCATION OF RESCUE: Page County, Virginia CIRCUMSTANCE OF ADMISSION: Found unable to fly ADMISSION DATE: January 2, 2012 Prognosis: Guarded On January 1, 2012, an adult Red-tailed Hawk was rescued from a barn in Page County, Virginia. When the hawk, patient #12-003, was admitted to the Wildlife Center on January 2, it displayed symptoms of lead poisoning. The hawk was weak and was unable to stand; its body condition and tattered feathers suggested that it was on the ground for a period of time before being rescued. Dr. Miranda Sadar performed an initial examination of the Red-tailed Hawk and her findings supported her suspicions that the hawk was suffering from toxic levels of lead in its blood—rendering it too weak to fly. Its feet were scabbed and the feathers around its vent were caked in feces, suggesting that it was on the ground for a long period of time. An in-house lead test taken the same day revealed that the hawk was suffering from lead toxicity, at a level of .26 ppm. This is the third case of lead-poisoning the Center has admitted this week. The hawk was immediately given a chelation treatment for the lead poisoning, but for now #12-003 remains too weak to undergo radiographs. If it continues to recover, the hawk should have a series taken on the weekend of January 7. The radiographs will allow the Center’s veterinarians the opportunity to see if any lead pellets are inside the bird or if it is suffering from any other maladies as well. The Red-tailed Hawk is currently in an enclosure in the Center’s hospital. Because the hawk still cannot stand, the Center’s rehabilitators have placed a supportive “donut” in its enclosure on which the bird currently lays. The hawk has not lost an appreciable amount of weight since it arrived, even though it has been too weak to eat, and it will now be hand-fed by the Center’s rehabilitation staff until it is able to eat on its own. |

Cheryl I left a comment and had to bite my tongue severely not to break any of the posting guidelines outlined at the top of the guestbook. Sure hope it all helps to get the Whoopers back in the air without too much more down time in Alabama

Carole I hear you about the bad service. The Bay has changed a lot since they went to specialized boutiques. If you even try to take a purchase to a different register (which are so few and far between), they will not ring it up until the employee from the boutique comes to do it...there is typically only one person who has to do everything resulting in lots of wait time for the customer. I'm surprised you had that problem in the shoe department though, where there are usually more than a few people working. It is always nice to shop where people remember you and where the people working are polite and capable of helping properly. Don't even get me started about kids who cannot do anything without a computer telling them what to do...like how much change is owing ![]() I don't think they teach math anymore without calculators

At the Bay I feel as if I need a GPS to find a checkout person. I would rate Sears much higher for customer service. We have to go to Square One in Mississauga for Lulu Lemon. The last time I was there I told several of the sales people and the cash person what terrific customer service they had. Penny, Mia has one of those collars. We haven't needed it so far. Basically we aren't doing much except watching the dogs. I'm doing some shredding, too, trying to clear up the filing cabinet. That's about it for today, though. I've been wondering about Topa, too. She was going to check in with us from Jerusalem I thought. She must be understandably busy! |
