Savta Cathy.....your pics were sooo wonderful! Bet it was so hard for you to come home! My BFF is going to Israel this year..I believe in Oct...and she is soooooo excited! She too loves it there and her grandkids are not even there And says it is always so hard to leave. If she didn't have so many ties here she would probably move there. George is adorable! Looks so comfy Kris...how awesome to have met Elvis! I always liked him and still love watching the movies he made. Kath...the wedding looked beautiful! I was really studying the pics since Linds will be getting married this year, looking for ideas. Her's also will be outside but late in the afternoon so hopefully won't be hot. You looked the prettiest of any of the guests there and I LOVE your dress and hat!! So beautiful and classy! Well, its back to work for me tmrw I am so hoping to be able to retire at the end of this school year! Please pray that it will be possible! I love the kids but I have just done it for so long I am tired.

Old Cemetery Inscriptions- A truly Happy Person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour. And, one who can enjoy browsing old cemeteries... Some fascinating things on old tombstones! Harry Edsel Smith of Albany, New York: Born 1903--Died 1942. Looked up the elevator shaft to see if the car was on the way down. It was. ============================= In a Thurmont, Maryland , cemetery: Here lies an Atheist, all dressed up and no place to go. ============================= On the grave of Ezekial Aikle in East Dalhousie Cemetery, Nova Scotia: Here lies Ezekial Aikle, Age 102. Only the good die young. ============================= In a London , England cemetery: Here lies Ann Mann, who lived an old maid but died an old Mann. Dec. 8, 1767 ============================= In a Ribbesford, England , cemetery: Anna Wallace The children of Israel wanted bread, And the Lord sent them manna. Clark Wallace wanted a wife, And the Devil sent him Anna. =============================== In a Ruidoso, New Mexico , cemetery: Here lies Johnny Yeast. Pardon him for not rising. =============================== In a Uniontown, Pennsylvania , cemetery: Here lies the body of Jonathan Blake, Stepped on the gas instead of the brake. ============================== In a Silver City , Nevada , cemetery: Here lays The Kid, We planted him raw. He was quick on the trigger, But slow on the draw. ================================ A lawyer's epitaph in England : Sir John Strange. Here lies an honest lawyer, and that is Strange. ================================= John Penny's epitaph in the Wimborne, England , cemetery: Reader, if cash thou art in want of any, Dig 6 feet deep and thou wilt find a Penny. ================================== In a cemetery in Hartscombe , England : On the 22nd of June, Jonathan Fiddle went out of tune. ================================== Anna Hopewell's grave in Enosburg Falls , Vermont : Here lies the body of our Anna, Done to death by a banana. It wasn't the fruit that laid her low, But the skin of the thing that made her go. ================================== On a grave from the 1880s in Nantucket , Massachusetts : Under the sod and under the trees, Lies the body of Jonathan Pease. He is not here, there's only the pod, Pease shelled out and went to God. ================================== In a cemetery in England: Remember man, as you walk by, As you are now, so once was I. As I am now, so shall you be, Remember this and follow me. To which someone replied by writing on the tombstone: To follow you I'll not consent, Until I know which way you went. |

Jill your friend took some really great 's of the Souk in Istanbul. The ancient buildings juxtaposed with the modern...like the Shell station Nice they where actually allowed inside the Mosque. I wished he had labled those pics so we would know exactly what the buildings were. What a melting pot that city is....one of these days maybe we'll get there

Lily the Black Bear - Update January 8, 2012 A Problem and Jewel’s chances ![]() Jim fixing Jewel den cam glitch - Jan 8, 2012 The Lily-Faith Den Cam has been transmitting well since we installed it on December 18. However, behind the scenes we have struggled with a problem of the solar panels not charging the batteries. We have slowly been depleting the bank of 8 batteries. Today, as the tech team resolved the issue with the solar panels, a vital component of the den cam equipment failed. Lily’s den cam will be down for a few days until a replacement arrives. Lily just before den cam went down - Jan 8, 2012 Thank goodness it wasn’t Jewel’s Den Cam—although a cell signal glitch at Jewel’s equipment shed necessitated an evening visit to correct. ![]() Jewel doing some housekeeping this afternoon Jewel is active and showing us parallels to Lily’s activity in and out of the den before Hope was born. We calculated the chances of Jewel giving birth this winter. 12 (71%) of 17 other females her age (3) gave birth in the clan. That’s the same percentage we quoted before Lily gave birth (10 of 14 at that time). Since then, Lily and Jo gave birth at 3 and Baby Devil waited until she was 4. The bears here are overshadowed by the bears of Pennsylvania, though, when it comes to maturing and giving birth. Probably the most thorough study of birth rate ever done was by Dr. Gary Alt in Pennsylvania for his Ph.D. Dissertation. He found that 85% of the mothers there had their first litters at the age of 3 (like Lily) or before. Regarding “or before,” 1 actually had cubs at age 2. We’re using descriptive titles for updates to help us (and you) find past updates with specific information. To further help with that, we made the DVD “Memories of 2010” that can be downloaded into a computer so all the updates of 2010 are word searchable. “Memories of 2011” is being compiled now and will be done soon. Thank you for all you do. —Lynn Rogers and Sue Mansfield, Biologists, Wildlife Research Institute North American Bear Center |
