Good morning, everybody! The schools are back to their schedules here today as well. Yesterday we un-decorated our Christmas tree, the last stage of getting all the house decorations put away for another year. Everything always looks so plain afterwards. I'm never in a rush to finish Christmas. Mia is making good progress with her healing. Topa, I made a comment over on FB about your great slideshow. So, when do you get to see them again? |

Great news from Norfolk.....Posted by Mr. Lukei........... Overnight Jan 8/9 both the adult bald eagles stayed in the nest tree, with the male in the nest and the female on the back branch. Just before 7:00am the male moved to the back branch next to the female and at 7:02 the pair mated for the first time this breeding season. Click here for photos..... http://eaglenest.blogs.wm.edu/ |

Norfolk eagles on the right track.Ozzie, I think it is fine to share the leucistic red-tailed hawk photo. It was posted in Birdwatching Magazine. Now I can't find the link for the photo, but the photographer was Jennifer K.. (that's all she gave) I thought your wedding outfit was really nice. The photo of you and BBob was super, nice smiles and very natural. |

Big beautiful moon this morning on my way to work! Got a couple pics but not at home so can't post yet. Will do so on my break. Looked really low in the sky. Couldn't quit staring at it. Made it hard to drive that way Laurie...glad to hear that Luke is doing so well! He sure has a great attitude! Hugs from "Auntie Karen" Cheryl...I know what you mean about not being ready to "finish Christmas", I am not, either. Did get my tree down, live tree so really needed to get it out of my house, but haven't put the decorations in the boxes yet. I dread that the most. Always such a letdown. Great news about the Norfolk pair!! Hope to see some egg-lets soon! How long after mating is it before they actually will lay the eggs? Don't think I have ever seen this asked or answered before. Kids did pretty well this morning about getting back into the grind of school. Of course, I don't have them in a normal classroom setting so don't know how it will be in their classes. Right now I just have the late start kinders so its pretty quiet. I like this part of my day. Jim is gone still but he is supposed to be back on Fri. He has been working so hard! Had to work all day yesterday and most of Sat. Hey, did you realize that this is a leap year?? We get an extra day! And that means an extra day of pay...woooooooohoooooo!

![]() It's a glorious morning here...beautifully and no wind and to top it all off its going above zero to +4C/40F which is unheard of at this time of the year. After today and tomorrow things will start to cool down considerably to more normal temps again so we have to make the most of it while it lasts

WCV RTH was exercised before and there was no way he was going to get caught. They were just observing how his flight was but he didn't know that. ![]()

Penny, we're having unheard of mild weather for January here too! I'm not complaining but it worries me about what it means to climate change, and for what's in store. We should have more cold weather before Winter's over. The BBC weatherman reported seeing Daffodils blooming! And when we went to a nearby wood a few days ago Snowdrop shoots were everywhere. I even saw a tree covered with pink blossoms today, and it was 13C by my car's outside thermometer when I went to the nearby village for groceries at 3 pm. The poor plants and creatures think it's already Spring.
