Hello one and all

I posted at CHIL Chat this AM giving a quick (lol) overview of what has consumed my life and time these past couple of months ... but it seems to finally be evening out so I'm hoping I can get back to a more normal pattern (whatever that was or may be)

Hope everyone is well and I've missed you all so much and indeed want to thank all of you for being there during these past months thru the ups and downs as work and life got sorted out!

I'm so happy to see the eagles settling in to incubate the wonderful 2012 eggs that have been delivered .......

the 2012 Nest Adoption Challenge is just around the corner - exciting!

I know I've missed lots of birthdays, anniversaries and stuff :( phooey

but sure hope everyone is well and enjoying whatever you are doing......

we're trying to put together our thoughts ---- we are going to visit family and new territories for us - in September for our 20th anniversary! we'll be arriving in Salt Lake City - then to ID to see Katie and family - off to Yellowstone - thru Jackson Hole and over to Cheyenne to visit Bryan and family and end up in Denver! woo hoo

now what to do about CA this year hmmmm - yes this is very late for me to be doing this but it's just been that way in my life as I settle in to my new job and situation! hopefully this weekend we can get that more focused (the CA thing) and figure out what we'd like to do....... thank goodnes this isn't one of ES' hiking summers - whew!

Good morning from Cruzneyland. :*: :<<>>: :<<o>>:
Deb nice to hear from you and that all is going great.
Planning your summer vacation is a lot of work alone.
It sounds like a wonderful anniversary present to you both.
Congratulations on your 20 years together. :Hugs:

Jiller's, I love your Snoppy quilt for the foster children. :ok:

Arsty, thanks for posting the true story of the Grizzly bear.
I saw the headlines and just couldn't read the whole story.

Zoey is going to the Doggy Spa today. She needs her nails done. :D

<3 those PH cam close-ups Topa :)^

Last night DH and I watched a program on Market Place about home repairmen. It was so shocking!!! This was a situation similar to 'To Catch a Predator' where they set up cameras and did simple things to a kitchen faucet and toilet to cause them to leak or run non-stop. The 'sting' took place in Toronto. In both cases the repairs would be simple...tighten a pull-out hose on the kitchen faucet and loosen the chain on the toilet bowl handle.

Well...in every single case...repairs to the tune of big $$$ were recommended. Only two people found the problems but they both still told the homeowner she needed to replace perfectly good fixtures.

A dishwasher wasn't draining properly because the hose had been purposely plugged with a wad of paper towels. A good repairman would take only a few minutes to diagnose the problem just like with the faucet and the toilet. One guy actually took a cup off the counter and peed in it, dumped it down the drain and put the cup back on the counter :8O:

This continued with an overhead garage door opener which was in perfect condition. They simply pressed a button on the opener to 'lock' it. One guy who knew what the problem was told the homeowner she needed to replace the operating sensor which was brand new. While she was away, he also relieved himself in a corner, took out her brand new sensor, replaced it with an inoperable one, lied about doing that when confronted and left with the brand new sensor after being paid for the job.

DH and I were so horrified especially since we need to have some plumbing done here :o Interestingly most of the repairmen were people from other countries who had started their own companies but some of them worked for recognized ones like Rotor Rooter. Some of those people did not even have qualified licenses and were not insured, so that if they caused any worse problems there is no way to sue them. They had to intervene on the show to stop a guy who would have done just that.

I still can't believe what happened on that undercover program :hair:

Moral of the story...be very careful who you hire to do home repairs of any kind :ok:
Oh and watch them like a hawk the whole time :P
