![]() The condor in the sky. By: Linda Butcher Potter..Ojai Museum.. In 2007, the Institute for Wildlife Studies received a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to spearhead a program to make hunters aware of alternatives to lead ammunition. Lead ammunition has been shown to be an environmental hazard that causes poisoning of wildlife. Bald eagles and California Condors are vulnerable to lead poisoning as they feed on the remains of animals taken by sportspersons. http://iws.org/species_condor.html |

Topa, that is a gorgeous statue. Didn't know there was a museum in Ojai ![]() Yes, the chickadees are building their nests here, Mama bunny-to-be has decided our 'wild' area at the back of the yard is a perfect place for her nest and those raccoons are obviously in mode around here. I finally got the awful presents they left off my stone wall and sidewalk yesterday. Two neighbors informed me that they have seen a really large raccoon several times in their yards and on the boulevard in the front quite often. I had no idea

Arsty, Yes, there is a lovely museum in an old California mission. The Condor statue is outside in the back. Linda photoshoped the print of the statue front and the back is the condor flying in the air. She gifted the print to the museum. |

Arsty, your backyard sounds like a wildlife sanctuary. We (Ojai) have rock walls along the orchards and the bunnies love to nest inside the walls. This is what our sky looks like this morning from my backyard.

DH bought me this festive Spring planter at Costco yesterday.![]() It was really hard to choose because there were so many combinations and colours of metallic containers.. purple, fuschia, chartreuse and gold. I picked this one because the plants do not need full sun. I'll take another when the lily blooms open up

Topa that is exactly what our sky looked like yesterday afternoon too ![]() Sunny I am actually glad your snowy owl left. They do not do well if they are not much farther north. She found a good place to tide her over when she needed good food and now she has most likely migrated back to the northernmost tundra stretches in Alaska and Canada. |
