Yes, It did take a lot of effort for IWS to raise the eagle population to the sustainable breeding level it is today. It's so much fun to be able to watch the whole process on the cams. GREAT REMINDER CDN of all the years Dr. Sharpe spent in the eagle nursery.

LOVE the openings these past mornings as well as today's! Been teaching my early morning kiddos about the eagles and the chicklets and let them watch the cam a bit this morning. They got to see Wray feeding the little ones and watched #81 moving that darn HUGE crib rail around the nest!! ACK!!!!! Almost stepped on the little one and then almost dropped the LOG on it! Wish they'd knock that thing outta the nest altogether! During the banding maybe Dr. Sharpe can get rid of it so that next year it doesn't cause any problems. Anyways, the kiddos are enjoying learning about them. Had a little 3rd grade boy just stun me yesterday! Was reading a Magic Treehouse book to them with a story that had to do with Shakespeare. In the story he uses the phrase "all the world's a stage..." but that was all the book had of the phrase so I finished "and we are merely players". The 3 grade boy said "is that like a metaphor?" I just stared at him for a second just stunned that he would even know that word at that age!! I said, "well, yes, and how do you know that word??" He says, 'I watch tv!" Smart child! Well, I took all my paperwork and my letter stating I am retiring up to the district office on Tuesday, which also happened to be my hire date anniversary, 17 yrs! I thought that was rather appropriate to do it on that day even tho it really wasn't intentional! I had gone the day before but was missing some forms so had to wait and turn it all in together. Deb...I can imagine how excited you are about coming to Cali. I hope the weather is good when you are here. Should be but you never know as this year everyone has been experiencing some not so normal weather at different times!

Cheryl, such an inspirational and wonderful opening today! I love that pic of Dr. Sharpe puckering up to feed the chicklet. Jeanne, I was in bed by the time you made your comment last night (8 hrs ahead in the UK) but wanted to say I so appreciated that you got what I said. I'd already noticed you were referring to "#3" in NO and not to the name someone wanted to designate to it, even though others seemed to be bowing to the trend. One post today had the "name" mentioned 5 Times! It's "#3" for me until the official naming. |

http://www.estoportfolios.com/sundberg_oneWTC/ hopefully this link works - photos of Tower 1 - ES is an architect working on the Tower ![]() ""David Sundberg lives in Lower Manhattan and over the last few years, the view from his apartment has changed. He's been watching One World Trade Center fill the 9/11 hole in the sky. Originally called The Freedom Tower, the new building, designed by SOM, is a major addition to the skyline. Take a look at these images. Some were taken from around the city and others from David's kitchen window. The selection will be updated as new photographs become available"" |

Cheryl those are great in your NAC post. I always laugh when I see that one of spoon feeding the exactly the way a Dad would feed his own baby The dope on a rope one is pretty good too and the one where he has on a grey T shirt with an eaglet tucked under his arm...forget which one, but I think it was at WE over 4 years ago. That's another winner ![]() Kris and Jeanne I really don't think anyone thinks 'Metoo' is the name for the littlest one at WE. It's just a way of referring to it's predicament because it sure is getting overlooked at most feedings. I like to stay optimistic about it's chances, but I must admit I will not watch when the serious bopping gets started...absolutely hate that I don't recall ever seeing it at Norfolk either...there was just so much food in that nest all the time.

Karen how wonderful to share with the kids ... I show my boss' kids when they visit a few times a week - they luv seeing the chicks! Bet you are truly counting the days until you are free ..... free to do whatever you want to do ![]() thank goodness the nests have always had lots of food and even though the small/later chicks, seem to get pushed aside, they always get enough to grow and eventually they become very clever at getting their share! plus being a little behind the others means we get a chicklet on the nest just a bit longer .... I'm pulling for the little #3 to be strong and show 'em how it's done ![]() Penny love your new feeder - I need to look around and get some things to enhance our yard ..... I want to build a shade roof thingie but we just never have the time (or energy) last year we tried the tent thing but sometimes the winds we get here from the ocean - we came home one night and our neighbor was enjoying it in her yard ROFL..... hmmmmm gonna have to give it some thought my boss had ordered a picture for her office a couple of months ago and it came today (how appropriate - on her birthday) it's a beach scene which is awesome so I'll have to visit her a lot back there so I can see it (or just move it to my desk) LOL |
