Carole, fantastic opener today! I feel so bad for Derek and Savanah too, and for the young little one who's gone to the hacking tower so soon. I haven't even watched that nest this year, knowing how sad it makes me feel when the family is separated.Speaking of family, I've received no news from my Uncle about how my brother's surgery went, despite emailing him to ask. I assume it went well or I would have heard something. I have kept an eye on Loch of Lowes too. Great caps Penny. The Scottish Wildlife Trust is on egg watch but so far no sign of imminent egg laying. And no sign of Lady's previous partner, Green 7Y, aka "Laird", who they say could still turn up and upset the situation. He was such a devoted mate, especially in 2010 when Lady was very ill and nearly died, that I'm a bit sad he hasn't been seen this year. This is a video that was produced to tell her story, and includes some footage of her frightening illness, during which her mate fed the chicks and tended her until she made a remarkable recovery. This hi res photo of the new couple was taken by Ross Forsyth. ![]() |

Dog Bless You's photo Fred adopts Dennis. Dennis' mother got eaten by Fox and little Dennis was stranded in the woods. When Fred found her he immediate took to him. They are now best friends, sleeping together, playing together and swimming in the local pond. Dog Bless our animals. Lucky.

Pa Norfolk is in the nest...he arrived with #4 at 10:37 EDT![]() He's watching something overhead ![]() For those keeping score, the females in order have been...1,2,3,2,3,4,2,4,3,4 so far. #1 lasted the longest from Sept 2011 to Jan 2012. She was killed when she hit high tension wires The rest have each been back on 3 seperate occasions and yesterday there was another adult flying around over the nest which was not #3. Could there be a #5 or was it #2?Stay tuned for more 'As The Nest Turns' ![]() Edit: Pa is still in the nest an hour and a half later just as if he was incubating an egg...maybe he's waiting for the females to duke it out and see who shows up

#4 NBG Female, snagged yesterday from DeeJay's NBG Blog.![]() You certainly can't fault Dad Norfolk for being one of those shallow guys who only goes for looks. Of course all Bald Eagles are beautiful, just some more so, and this wouldn't be one of those. She does have determination though. #3, where are you? |
