G'day Peeps! My Sunday, nothing planned which means I have a lot of 'stuff' I keep putting off to do! :D

As the GPS data indicate, our birds covered ~231 miles on their first full migration day Thats great! :)^

:'( PH49 chick.

Michele, great creative NAC presentation, and thank you (and everyone on the NAC Committee) for your time and efforts :)^

VERY cool SF lightening show, thanks Cathy, snagged!

Open House went well... Sent two contracts to interested parties... but not holding my breath. The average time to sell is 2 months and I've only just started!

I like the idea of ancestors of the Titanic going through the voyage. Kinda like the Chinese who have a day of remembrance sweeping their ancestors graves.... Would I go on the voyage, No.

The bigger R1 often has pecked and knocked aside its nest mate, horrifying some Eagle Cam viewers. Welcome to reality. shesh.

Have a 6 people dinner party last night, lots of fun, full... probably wont eat for a week now. rofl

Safe travels Carole. Your Darling D sent me a video of herself for her products!~ :)^ :)^ She is so beautiful!

Finally after all the mystery and the questions of a "phantom egg" laid the other night and the curious behavior it seems Lady has laid her first egg of the season at a few minutes past 8pm this evening! :)^

It will be her 60 something egg after 48 successful fledges in 22 years! <3
Oh I was so happy to see your post about the Lady of Lowes egg Kris :)^

Now her new suitor is really going to have to step up to the plate and give her a break when she needs it and keep the ><'> offerings coming :D

safe travels Carole - wave to my family as you pass by in OH
Lady has an egg - whoopee! hope it all works out :)

a little hectic and trying times here today - got a call this afternoon that DD was in the ER :( (700 miles away) - heart issues (she's only 35) - after a battery of tests and monitoring, they believe it may be caffeine related and some from acid reflux which apparently she's been having recent issues with --hmmmm she's home resting (her dad is there) - she has a monitor on for 24 hrs much to her dismay but she's happy to know that it's not a major problem and she's resolved to make some changes in her crazy life to work on fixing things so it doesn't become more serious! I know she was upset and I can't tell you how upset I was but all's well for the moment - whew

just talked to her again so now gonna plug my phone in to re-charge and put my feet up to re-charge me LOL

Kris - hope you and Ed find some peace and he gets some relief.... :Hugs:

michele :><: beautiful posts - right to my heart ..... <3

hmmm I'm doing for Praline tomorrow so guess I should get on it :<:: it will get my mind onto something else for a bit too.....

thanks all - my heart dropped when she first called but as we talked, I felt better and we've talked several more times since the initial call from ER! she has been working to cut back on soda and some stuff but really needs to step up her efforts - not easy with her job and schedule - but we talked long about it and I'll be heading out to visit her soon and spend a few days of vacation time so.... we'll work on it.

it's not an uncommon thing but it sure is a scary one ..... her dad was great in helping her thru today ..... :)^

busy wrapping up my codes for tomorrow postings..... wanna head to bed

want to catch the news and see about these storms and weather  all be safe if you might be in harms way

safe travels to you and yours Carole :}^ say hi to Megan as you pass by in a day or two :)

Lily the Black Bear – UPDATE April 14, 2012

All Bears On The Move

Posted Image :clk:
Lily and Faith - April 14, 2012

Is walking hibernation over 2 weeks early? We usually think of bears reaching full metabolism the beginning of May—about the beginning of green-up. Today, all the bears were on the move.

Yesterday, Cookie made a major move with her cubs—2.25 miles, followed by another 0.4 mile today.

Dot may have left her den with her cubs. Her GPS shows a cluster of locations 0.15 ENE of her den. Will they return to their den tonight yet?

Jewel encourages cubs to come down - April 14, 2012

Juliet moved 0.6 mile WSW to within 300 yards of Jo’s den where Jo just stopped by tonight at 7:32 PM before heading out to the WSW.

Jewel's cubs descend white pine - April 14, 2012

June and her yearlings are now 1.6 miles from their den and have stopped by Lily’s den. They may be on a collision course with Lily and Faith who are 0.9 mile directly south of there—in the heart of June’s territory.

Jewel moved the least today. She is still only about 175 yards from her den but is moving about with her cubs. Her cubs have quickly figured out the climbing—well at least the up part. Down remains a bit of a challenge and takes many grunts of encouragement from Jewel.

Two more videos from 'Wednesday with Jewel and cubs' are posted here and here.

Lynn holds his birthday cake - April 14, 2012

Lily Fans rock. Today, Lily Fans and Team Forward gave Lynn a super birthday bash online and in person. Lily Fans posted wonderful birthday greetings that scrolled by as fast as a person could read. When 100 people were posting online at once, the word came that Lynn had to roll in the cedar chip pile at the Bear Center like they had just seen Ted the Bear do. If he is to merit the Bearman title, he had to act like a bear. At 73, he got a kiss from Ted for luck and did a spry somersault in the cedar chips and camp up with his new blue birthday sweater covered with chips.

Lynn and Donna Rogers surrounded by Lily Fans - April 14, 2012

A reward was waiting. Lily’s Ladies had organized a birthday fundraising effort to buy needed materials for the research, including a subscription to JStor to give Lynn and Sue access to a huge online library of scientific references to help them write manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. The fundraising was all done quietly on individual Facebook pages. They presented Lynn with a check for $6,211 to the WRI, with more coming in through bearstudy.org. Word then came that Lily Fans had given over $600 to Nuts.com (formerly Nuts Online) for nuts to help us with radio-collaring efforts. We all felt the support and were filled with gratitude. After 2 years of this kind of unprecedented support, it still is new to us and comes as a surprise when things like this happen.

All we can say again is “Thank you for all you do.” All we can do is keep learning and educating the best we can.

Deb Omigosh, what a scare for Megan and frustrating for you....being 700 miles away from your baby. Thank goodness that it's something that can be easily(?) remedied. Hope, hope, hope. :X:

Carole, safe journey home little one.....however, it sounds like you and Alan have the perfect solution for a long journey home.....nice hotels and good meals.....way to my heart. :)^

Penny, I LOVED "As The Nest Turns"........ ROFL_sm.gif ROFL_sm.gif ROFL_sm.gif ROFL_sm.gif I must say, Pa is one handsome dude....not quite as handsome as wub.gif K-10 wub.gif but close enough to have three females fighting over him. Personally, I think part of his appeal is his apartment. That is one gargantuan nest!!! :)^ :<<o>>:

Kris, I'm so sorry to hear that Ed isn't doing better...he's always in my prayers, as is you....whether I post here or not, you're in my daily thoughts. No more so than when I was reflecting on something you had said once about a reading you had done......and it said that the Princess would return wearing a crown......and that made my day.......as well as you having been spot on. Many fretted when the report of Princess Cruz's GPS was showing a "mortality" signal. Steff noted that it could simply mean that Cruz had lost her GPS unit. Kris did a reading....and she determined from it that Cruz was thriving and would come into her reign with a head of crown....and she has. With that, Kris lifted me from a dark place, and gladly so.....because she was exactly right.
By the same token, I'm thrilled to hear that Lady has an egg in the nest, and she's incubating....WoooooHoooooo!!!! I'm lovin' this news!!! :88:

I can't go to bed without saying, THANK YOU PEEPS for all of your kind words for my NAC post.....I truly appreciate them.....and I appreciate all of you kind souls. You all, are what makes doing them, so much fun. Once again, THANK YOU!!!

Carole, thank you for the Eagleland report....dang, those Alcoa chicks are growing waaaaayyyyyy too fast!!! The NCTC feeties just melted my heart......what is it about feet that so fascinates me???

Penny, I absolutely adore "Maxine"...she's a woman after my own heart.....but I've yet to reach that much moxie in my life.....something to aspire to??? :haha: :haha:

Topa/Cathy, the pix of the lightening on the Bay Bridge were AMAZING!!!! What I would give to be able to have captured that. Speaking of capturing, I love the capture you got of the West End Nest.....so beautiful.

Carole and Penny, the Crisis at Richmond made my heart ache.....the dilemma is even more profound when you think about the concerns of human intervention and whether this played a part in the disruption of the nest. I'm thinking that all those involved, are heart stricken.....but I'm happy that there are options to be explored....and hopefully, quickly.
